Where did you place this contract? Do you have any information for individual states? I'm interested in betting each state they expect POTUS to lose total of 24. If I'm right the payout is 6/1 only need 2 states to win back 95% of "investment". Betonline, getting in and out they take a good hunk for their O/P.

I’ve used PI for years.

For newbies:

Looked far worse than this in 2016 then all of a sudden the market flipped. In 2018 midterms it happened again for a few markets and PI crashed and people couldn’t close bets. ALWAYS have sell orders ready. Cause when the market flips it’s gonna be fast. People want to get out quick. I usually set sell orders for 93 or so cents so that I assure that my shares get bought by someone trying to minimize their loses. PI was founded in New Zealand and all markets are left leaning.

EDIT: BTW right now you can buy “Biden drops out before 11/1” for 8 cents lol. Read the market rules they’re ridiculous, but if you think Biden’s out put your money where your mouth is.

Did you get paid? Is it like the stock market? How does it affect your taxes?

I didn’t play in 2016, started in 2017. In 2018 I didn’t have a sell order in place. About halfway through the night all the main stream models flipped and showed Trump winning the house. Trump winning the house bet shot up and hit like 60 or 70 cents or something and PI crashed and I couldn’t make a sell order. I sold and took a small loss. I have had a few small wins though and you just transfer it out and they take a fee. I guess it’s kinda like the market...someone has to want to buy your share in order for it to be traded. Idk about taxes, I def. have not won enough to claim lottery winnings, it’s like $300 in my state or something.

So you can't just hang on til the answer is reached? Like bet Trump wins and wait til election day? Or do you have to sell early?

What happens if you lose? Do you pay the risk amount or something?

Can't you just hold til the answer is reached?

Yeah, I maxed out months ago in the 40's thinking that was a good price, can't believe it's down into the 30's now.

How does betting work for elections. Is it just placing a bet on who will win? Or do you have to place a bet on the winner AND predict the electoral college numbers too?

4
Pederrr 4 points ago +4 / -0

Just the winner. There is electoral college contracts too

2
Arden 2 points ago +2 / -0

There are bets for EC and popular but this is abet for straight win.

covfefeit 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'm not sure about this. If it's shares, you have to sell it and who will buy it after the elections results are know leave the buyer with no reason to buy. Or will Predictit settle the contracts?

1
Lunatic_Fringe_PhD [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

The agreement is that they settle it out.

Same and another one. $$$ got in at $0.38 on each

Lunatic_Fringe_PhD [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Nice! I got some $$$ in at 0.37 but that was as cheap as I saw it

Are you going to hold out until the end or cash out at the peak when Hunter's CP habit comes out?
