We do exist, but because our livelihoods (typically 10-15 years of education and well into 6 figures of debt) are being held hostage by a licensing body that openly hates Trump and all he stands for... we tend to be quiet. I personally know four psychologists (Ph.D or Psy.D) in my immediate circle who are quietly hardcore Trump supporters, and another 8-10 who will likely vote for Trump based on comments I’ve heard them make, but haven’t said anything overt. By lieu of our training, we tend to hold our cards close to the chest, and doubly-so in this situation.
So you know, the BH field splits some politically. Psychologists (especially industrial / organizational psychologists) are the most likely to have more conservative leanings, but still liberal in general. Therapists (usually a master’s degree in psych) are very liberal. Social workers are almost by definition full-blown TDS.
If you’re looking for a based shrink for yourself or a friend, full psychologist is the way to go, but look up their profile/website. If they’re talking about obvious tells like BLM, queer supportive, social justice issues, run. If they’re quiet on it and just talk about real psychology like specialties and theoretical orientations, you’ve got a decent chance. When it comes down to it, they should be able to help as long as they’re not TDS, since by our training we’re supposed to be able to separate our personal values from the patient’s needs and respect that difference. Like every profession, some are more successful than others.

Nothing related to violence, just seeing injured children from Talib IEDs amd thoughts of despair of the ones that were too far gone to be saved through first aid. And the VA guy spent an uncomfortable amount of time asking if i had firearms at home.
