Im french and tbh LePen was massively ridiculozed during the debates. Even myself couldnt understand why she did this. She looked so un-presidential.
Many people believe that LePen (and her father before) dont want to be elected, but to be the controled oposition.
We have stories about the first time they broke the the 2nd cycle of voting and many people at RN (party's name) in 2002 were panicked because they never really planned to rule.
President Trump was also "ridiculozed" (ridiculed) during his debates. The media and the left--apologies for the redundancy--are prone to belittle/dehumanize their enemies:
"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."
That's true. But what i meant is that she ridiculed herself alone. For many (including me) it seems she did everything she could to not be elected. (This was they can continue to be controled opposition and earn millions from government subsidiaries as they are a political party).
If you are interested I can find the debate between her and Macron to show you some parts of it when she did weird stuffs.
She is really different from Trump: no energy, no real desire to rule and her name doesnt ring with "success" as it did for Trump.
(Thanks for your correction of "ridiculed")
Not every leader holds merit in the role of a debater (the spreading of ideas and ideals is her strength, perhaps, like giving a voice to the ignored masses);
or Le Pen may have had an "off day" during that debate.
For comparison, in Canada, Maxime Bernier would be the federal politician closest to "our guy," but his performance at the debate against PM Trudeau and the other party leaders was--put bluntly--terrible (think: Joe Biden and his ramblings). However, I have seen him perform much better; he just had an "off day."
lol member le pen

Consider an alternative perspective:
