I remember watching the evening news during wars in Iraq and Afghanistan when our young men didn’t die in sufficient numbers that they had to be scrolled. We could actually see their pictures and a short bio.
Donald Trump is the first President in my lifetime who has not sent our young men off to die in a war. Our soldiers are coming home flying coach and having a couple beers instead of as cargo in body bags.

I don’t remember the scrolling of the names of the casualties, but my first memories of TV news (in black and white) are reports about the Vietnam War. I can still see it in my mind’s eye. I was confused and sad by what I saw, even at a young age.
