Reagan was the first president I ever voted for, still proud of it. He didn't take crap, that's how he broke the Soviet Union. Trump learned a lot from him, I can see it in many of the things he says and does. It's nice that we have a real leader in the White House again.
He got up, bc he was going to head a live mic. (Experience from his decades in radio, tv, and Hollywood. "ohh this mic is dead, let me go over to the other one on stage :) Also to prevent feedback/noise pickups, you turn the existing mic off at the base, when away from it, so it doesn't interupt you at the other mic (even if it's on/off at the other end of the mic cable.)
This. It's still Reagan's fault for falling for it though. That and no-fault divorce in California were his two biggest screw ups. You have to put it into context though, we had bigger fish to fry during the Cold War.
Back then there was a lot more honor in politics as well. I know now that people reading this are thinking OF COURSE THE DEMOCRATS LIED!!!, but it wasn't always the case that you could not trust a gentlemen's agreement from them.
And he is an idiot for going through with it. Defend the Hughes Amendment while we are at it. What about the CIA funneling drugs into ghettos? Reagan was a RINO. He set the Republican party back decades.
[Redpill] He didn't "choose" GHWB, the Establishment Swamp/Deepstate in the party did. See the 1976 Primary for more background, or even going back much further than that. It was the only way Reagan could secure the top of the ticket, sorta how DJT has to "choose" Establishment Swamp/Deepstate critters for DHS and other positions to secure "confirmations". The civil war within the Republican Party then was as it was pre-Trump; Trump knew and studied the past game, and was able to use much of the Reagan playbook and add to it. Similar to MAGA, is from Reagan's campaign slogan of "Let's Make America Great Again." and DJT improved it, and trademarked it to Make America Great Again.
Yep both are huge screw ups, but letting Bush be VP was worse. Not just then but the damage the Bushes would later go on to do the America and the world. Of course Reagan couldn't possibly know what the future was.
I was a bit too young to vote but I remember this time period. Patriotism was very high. People loved America and were proud of it. Even Prince wrote songs celebrating America. So many musicians did back then. After that everyone got busy hating America.

We love our experienced pedes

His biggest screw up was choosing GHWB as his VP. He influenced him far too much on that amnesty crap.
It was the Democrat congress that promised immigration reform if he passed amnesty first. They lied.

☝️And this is exactly how loud Trump will have to speak if they turn off his microphone.😁
He should bring his own mic, and PA.... and when muted, use the same line.
Trump should bring one of these to the debate: https://youtu.be/hqIrzkPDtrk
If he did this tomorrow night. He could mail it in after that.
I'd bring a big-ass bugle and blow it everytime Joe starts stuttering...l just ask my wife, she confirmed I would be dick enough to do that. KEK!
Airhorn or bust.

I thought people still have to sign up for SS. Well men anyway, women get a free pass along with all the same rights.
Wait....do they not have to sign up for Selective Service anymore?
Ahh, memories. I got my "you need to register for Selective Service" notice while I was at plebe summer...
