It’s Biblical teaching that all Bishops are the successors of Peter. The schism of 1054 went against Ecumenical Councils which states that not a word should ever be added or removed from the Nicene Creed— and in addition, appointed a Pope as the infallible head of the Church instead of Christ. All of these are heretical and it’s for that reason the West separated from the East.
