The fact that the white house responded to a simple letter is pretty cool. Even if the man himself didn't read it, someone did. It's small stuff like this that I like.
I work for a company that sends people to the WH easter egg roll. Big Mike used to send a letter to a few people thanking them for their work. I think big Mike actually signed it because the letter looked similar to OPs but when you looked at the back of the paper there was a dot or two on the signature where the pen first strikes the paper to sign his name an actual pen was used rather than a stamp. I then saw what my coworker received when she went to the egg roll again, this time with Trump. She received a thank you letter signed by Trump and Melania as well as an 8x10 photo of my coworker, her husband, child and them alone posing with DJT and Melania. Very cool.
I believe they are auto-pens that are programmed for POTUS’ signature. Real pen, real signature, just not the actual hand. I worked at Camp David for a few years and we were able to request letters for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I could handle that job, bringing up the letter, typing the name and shooting it through.
^^
This👍! Because President and Mrs. Trump have set the expectation that these things will be acknowledged--and all levels of WH staff are aware of it.
Even if it's a canned response, it's a breath of fresh air that Trump had the white-house send a canned response relevant to what people actually wanted to write him about. That's a step above the rest in my book!
And I can tell you the person who read it most likely reported it to Trump. "We got tons, hundreds of letters wishing you and the FLOTUS well". He knows about the support.

Bingo
Somewhere in there Trump said he wanted letters like such responded to.
Yes! He may have even drafted this as a generic send out to all the ones he received.
THIS ^^^
He may have not written the letter personally but for sure he asked the Whitehouse to respond to such letters
Maybe he did read/sign it personally! What do I know.

That was nice of Obama and the Trumps to send personal letters.

Trump Claus reads every letter. It's still real to me!
You're looking at this with the wrong mindset.
Which is better: A) someone writes a letter and the recipient sends literally anything back or B) someone writes a letter and.... nothing
