They only care about the lowest common denominator, the lowest of the low, the biggest losers out of the biggest losers.

If you have some policy that makes housing 80% cheaper, they will complain that there are some people still too poor to afford it. If you offer to give free homes to those people, they will complain that you have to fill out paperwork to get the homes, and that leaves out the illiterate. If you say you will hire an interpreter to fill out their paperwork, they will just complain that does nothing for people too fat to walk there on their own power. If you offer them free motor-scooters to get them down there, they will complain that some of them have no legs and thus can't lift themselves into the motor scooter.

Before you know it, They've taken a small issue that can be addressed with small economic tweaks (like housing prices) and they re-direct the debate so hard you end up talking about how to re-shape society to cater to retarded illiterate 500 lb double amputee illegal immigrants. And suddenly you become Hitler if you think they have their priorities backwards.

This. We have public housing. We have food stamps. We eradicated starvation as a cause of death. They still say there's so many hungry, so many homeless. It'll never end

Yeah. All it amounts to is the difference between idealism and realism. Leftists will always let the good die at the altar of perfect.

12
XxxRDTPRNxxX 12 points ago +12 / -0

Not only is starvation not a cause of death in America, but poverty is correlated heavily with obesity. The poor are eating too much!

0
Ausernamegoeshere 0 points ago +1 / -1

Here's a perspective from someone who was dirt poor. What you said is a misconception. The poor are eating the wrong things because food stamps are finite and those wrong things lead to terrible places, including obesity.

You get around $200 for a family of three per month (obviously varied by area). A current food budget for a healthy family of three is around $200 per week. This means you cover the staples - proteins and fresh vegetables for most meals with some carbs scattered to and fro.

To get away with most of your groceries for the month costing 1/4 of that, you are eating almost exclusively carbs. Beans, noodles, and that sort of thing. With that sort of diet comes poor nutrition and further binging on carbs to try and feed the persistent internal knock from the body asking for proper vitamins and minerals.

Poor people are fat because the government decided to pay them just enough to buy the worst possible foods - foods that leave them in a permanent state of poor nutrition with the highest energy content possible.

9
Pepe_longcockings 9 points ago +9 / -0

They make poor choices with the money they’re given. I used to deliver pizzas and the first weekend of every month, after the food stamps were sold to others for cash, we spent so much time delivering $50+ orders to the hood.

I also worked at a liquor store near there and let me tell you the amount spent on hennessey and newports was astounding.

Government assistance is wasted and exploited on a massive scale by nearly every recipient

8
XxxRDTPRNxxX 8 points ago +8 / -0

I don't accept that the government is responsible for feeding the poor in the first place. So to place the responsibility on the government for these people eating poorly seems very misplaced to say the least. If they are eating poorly it's because they aren't paying for better food themselves.

Next, People in other parts of the world live on less than $2 per day. Rice, beans, ramen, etc... is really cheap. Frozen vegetables are also very cheap.

It's not just a matter of money because if it was you could eat healthy for very cheap.

It really comes down to self control and convenience. Some people are more likely to take the instant gratification of junk food that tastes better than the more healthy bowl of boiled beans they have to make themselves. And I think people who already have that mindset are more likely to make the choices that keep them in poverty.

On the flip side someone who thinks long term, has self control, and will deny themselves instant gratification is the kind of person more likely to eat healthy, and also the kind of person more likely to escape poverty through those habits.

braveContrarian 1 point ago +2 / -1 (edited)

theres also the fact, that being working poor at minimum wage going overtime constantly to get extra cash or hopping between jobs,

you are very lucky to make a healthy lunch. it may seem like a poor choice to spend $5 a day out of your paycheck on shitty fast food, but its literally on the way and you can eat it while driving or just grab some shit off a shelf if you're in retail and call it lunch quick so you dont have much time away from work.

and on food stamps:

the real people selling food stamps ain't buying pizza -- theyre buying drugs. the reason you see the orders to the hood is their dealers are buying the pizza with all the excess money.

most people use their food stamps if they get them unless they're on the street as a drug addict. but its basically a pittance for most reasonable situations. You only really get a lot if you're basically a single mom with a bunch of kids.

even as a single guy with min wage or no job, not even enough money to pay taxes, you barely get anything in food stamps.

however, as a poor person -- knowing how to hit up all the food banks and donation services u are eligible for in you're community can keep you pretty close to well fed if you can scrape by enough for the fresh essentials, or whatever is spoiled/rotten you get for free. so if you can get rides, you can definitely eat well enough combined on not much of a budget if you plan well.

so you shouldnt really be scraping the bottom of the barrel to eat in this country, currently. if you make it your business to find where you can get food in your county you definitely can eat.

but again, you're right. it leads to terrible, carb and preservative laden diets on all fronts. and theres the fact junk food is cheaper than actual food. although -- fun fact -- since most people getting food stamps barely get like $25 a month if that, thats another reason you see people wasting it on snacks. to them its literally potato chip money because its not enough to supplement shit.

Im not joking, ive qualified for like $15 a month in food stamps for ages. i just never took it because its worthless.

"The poor will always be with you" -- Jesus Christ

6
Frog_Anne 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yes, always with the specter of starving children who are "food insecure"! They get housing, welfare, SNAP, free breakfast and lunch at school, more food sent home with the kid - how can there still be any hungry children? If you can't manage to feed your kid with all that, you're a hopeless, abusive loser who shouldn't be in charge of a cockroach, much less a child.

Either it's working and they're just moving the goalpost to steal more money, or it's not working and we should be doing something else.

6
Asianperswayzian 6 points ago +6 / -0

It's really not working well in alot of places. But that isn't the governments fault, it is the fault of the people in the communities. They don't have role models. They don't teach morals. They don't teach do the right thing, work hard and you can achieve great things. Instead they teach lie, cheat, and steal.

4
thisguy883 4 points ago +4 / -0

And when given the opportunity to actually build the community and create jobs, the Democrats roll in and make policies that keep people poor, thus creating a never ending supply of dependency of the state.

Then, when a Republican comes around to offer a solution, the people are told by the Democrats that the Republicans are there to take away their food stamps and other benefits.

And now you have another Detroit.

The left seems never to have heard the maxim "The perfect is the enemy of the good."

John Stossel once made the point that trying to make water 100% pure is foolish. Making water 99.9% pure is possible, but purifying it that last 0.1% is far more expensive for little additional safety.

But the left does exactly that on every issue. They pretend America is unworthy to exist because it isn't perfect, even though it's far closer than any other nation.

2
thisguy883 2 points ago +2 / -0

America is the #1 place people would die to be able to live in.

All other places are just backups incase they can't make it to America.

its that .1%. I feel it. in my bones. the very bones that have the cancer. wait no. maybe its just getting to my brain.

People seriously underestimate the economic value of a full time homemaker. But fucking economists can't count it, so we replaced that with two full time workers and outsourced food, clothing, childcare, education, everything, so it looks like we doubled the GDP but all we did was impoverish our families.

Well that, and I think the whole "two movies" or "two realities" concept that Scott Adams likes to push is very close to the truth. It's actually very similar (if not the same) to how cults work.

If a person is psychologically conditioned enough to see reality a certain way, then that is what they will see, no matter what the actual reality is.

Now I think Adams has gone too far and claimed that we on the "right" somehow see our own version of reality, but there really is no basis for that argument, because we aren't subjected to psychological conditioning constantly to see a right-leaning viewpoint like we and everyone else are subjected to a leftist viewpoint.

We've merely at some point or another stopped (or never did) seeing that projected reality. And further proof to that is that all of us under the whole MAGA banner have some pretty diverse views on specific things. That does not lend any credence to the idea we are drinking a different flavored koolaid. We are merely seeing what our "lying" eyes are telling us.

The leftists don't see or accept anything that deviates from what they want to see however, and thus "are watching a different movie".

Sure they are mentally ill. Many, just in my opinion, and nothing else, were abused, including sexually abused, as kids. Those are the good looking ones (before the mutilations which are a reaction to being too beautiful, and therefore abused.) There are, also, the unfortunately ugly ones, and those of limited intelligence, who were horribly teased.

But there's more.

This is NOT the land of opportunity any more; just try to open a little business or get a tiny little job in a mom and pop little business. None of that exists anymore.

Add in a glossy perfectionist culture, with horrible unionized schools, over sexualization, and the collapse of marriage, and you get this.

There's even more.

Mothers.

You talk about how they don't have fathers.

They also barely have mothers. Their mothers don't wear aprons, don't wear skirts, work full time, date, are sad, are broke, and use the kid as the substitute husband because they are lonely because the kid's father left.

Throw in a completely leftist school system, large classes, almost all teachers are women, and you get this.

So no, it's not the land of opportunity. Except for the intact-family, traditional culture, immigrants. They open a store. They have seen much worse than the US, and, they have mothers. And fathers. They live hard and rough, and are glad for what they can get.

They are crowded, but they are not lonely. And they don't have to be sexually attractive, which lots of people are not, and which is difficult, and takes all your time to achieve.

When their culture decides it's time for them to do sex, they are going to be married to whoever, and that's that. Then it's back to work.

Some young man was jumping all around, protesting Trump, saying "this is what democracy looks like" and "he's a socialist."

Democracy is sober-minded interest in the good of the people, not jumping around. Demo=people, cracy=rule. Democracy is not Greek for "Hop Like A Bunny." We have abolished manhood. Well they wouldn't let him jump and wriggle in school, he had to sit still, so he's been waiting for years to jump around.

You could tell there was murder in his heart.

The above is why.

7

I think the problem is that the big corps have lobbied the government to tax and regulate the small businesses so much that they can't get bigger. Walmart can deal with a lot of stupid regulations that no local competitor can afford, which is why it took an online corporation like Amazon to cut into Walmart's market share, rather than an upstart grocery/supermarket competitor.

There aren't any liberals left. They've all given up or moved to the Trump camp. What remains on "the left" are echo chamber addicts led by a coalition of the fringes. Every die hard "liberal" I know is horrified by these people (the fringe coalition). Some of them accept it, some of them don't. It is obvious to everyone that what we see as clowns are running amok in the democratic party.

Neoliberalism rules over all of this. Neoliberalism only cares about power. Domestic, foreign, and trade. It will do anything for that power, and sacrifice anyone.

A return to modern liberalism and a rejection of neoliberalism would be very healthy for this country. But there is only room for a loyal opposition. Which means corporate media has to be dismantled. Google is a good start.

11
MixedBlacknWhite 11 points ago +11 / -0

Imagine that for 4 or so years you've had a hard stance in one belief. That's who we're talking about.

Imagine that in real life® you arent successful in your social goings on. You don't have a lot of real friends. Hardly any dating life, no marriage nor family. You arent popular, you arent anything but a real life total loser. You don't have much of a career, nor financial future. This can happen to any of us. You have excuses for all your failures, you never accept responsibility because it has to be someone elses fault you are where you are.

Now you have two choices - pull yourself up by the bootstraps, fight back hard and better yourself, and let me tell you, this road isnt easy but it's the most rewarding. The other option is to wallow in self-made problems and phony bologna excuses. You come up with every reason under the sun for all your failures except "it was me all along" and you totally stop trying. - take a look at all the antifa mugshots, they are 100000% grade A losers in every sense of the word.

During all this brainwashing, you are spoon fed lie after lie, and agenda after agenda. You are controlled to think one way because everything you hear is catered to a certain wanted outcome. You align yourself with this way of thinking because it gives you a group.. a sense of belonging. You never stop to consider if this is a group you want to be part of, but instead it's a group that will take you, so you jump in feet first. (reference the nerdy basement losers podesta wikileaks email here). So now you're left standing with a fake persona built on a foundation of lies and misdirects. You arent a person, you're a projection of what the string pullers want you to be, but you're finally something.. even if that something is abhorrent and fake.

With all that said, do you (lefty losers) give up the lie and instead face reality.. the red pill as it were? Or do you double down and take the easy road because it requires no accountability and no effort on your part? For today's lefty morons, the take the latter. Those of us who werent on the right path, took the former.

The lefties can't give their illusion up and "change", because they will lose their entire identity and have to face the real world...and that's too hard for them to handle. Their whole persona is wrapped up in their political beliefs, and it controls them. Ask one what they like to do for a hobby, sports, music, social stuff, etc.. their list is short if there's a list at all. They are professional victims, and they will tell you that as soon as possible.

But here we are, with family, friends, social gatherings, hobbies, interests, future plans to get better, plans to make others better, plans to make our neighborhoods, towns, states and country better.. because it's the right thing to do, even though it isn't easy. some of us are still trying to learn how to get right, but at least our noses are in the books studying while our lefty peers are instead getting busy trying to burn those same books.

Thank you for coming to my Pepe Talk®

2

I can't get people to understand that. 6 years ago I was unhappy with my my life. I made what felt like a huge decision and uprooted everything.

Looking back that mountain of a first step just looks like a bump... why didn't I do it sooner? None of it was really all that dramatic. I made the decision and started taking the 1000 small logical decisions that brought me to the path where I wanted to be.

It's out there for all of us, but we have to do it. It isn't luck or handed to us

Luck isn't the full deck... it's just some cards. You have to get yourself into position to be able to use them when dealt and that starts by stepping up to the table in the first place.

It is literally what makes america greatest western democracy in the world. I'm Australian, we have no guarantee of free speech, no right to bare arms to protect against a tyrannical government.

The problem with your left is they believe their victims of their own freedom. They don't want personal sovereignty because it puts the onus on you for your own success or failure.

They want authoritarianism, that way their told what to think, what to do and how to live. They want rules and structure around everything, and most of all they want something for nothing.

I've always taken responsibility for myself. My successes are because of my action and so are my failures. But people who are weak of mind and lack discipline refuse to believe their circumstances are of their own doing.

Gotta be mad at something.

Because they feel empty inside and want to punish everyone for their personal shortcomings.

They believe in the fallacy of "free gibs" and that someone is trying to get them 'something', and that another group is preventing it.

Everyone loves free. So it's common to exploit that desire. 'Something' is healthcare, child support, reparations, ect.. the trick is pulling it off.

Ho Chi Minh, Stalin, Castro, Hitler... it's been employed many times before. It's all a grift.

I believe it's due to a romanticized vision of other places in the world that they've never been to, only heard and seen and discussed on the internet/reddit. They hear stories about free stuff in Canada and Europe and posters who may or may not actually live there regale them with even more bullshit that they think is utopia. They hear stories about how Germany does this and doesn't do this, Sweden has this amazing program, France does this, Canada is great because this and think that the U.S. should incorporate all those things not realizing that it would probably be impossible to make work in the long run. Also they seem to think that the only country in the world that discriminates and has race issues is the U.S., forgetting that soccer fans in Spain used to make chimpanzee noises at black soccer players and many other similar issues.

They don't care about the results or consequences. They just want to control everyone's actions.

Did you just say God Bless You when someone else sneezed? Off to jail with you!
Not using someone's preferred gender pronouns? More jail time!
Wearing clothing from another culture? Would make it illegal if they could.
Having children? Only if you are in a mixed race relationship!
Carbon footprint? Better keep it low, unless your a celebrity or Democrat official.
That's not a reusable straw - Jail.
Not drying your own waste to make "chips" to BBQ with - Not illegal yet, but should be.

I blame the removal of intermissions from entertainment. They are a captured audience.

Schools teach your kids that conservative ideals are bad. The media teaches them to treat conservatives as idiots and subhuman. In order to break the conditioning, you need something huge like a midlife crisis. Then be willing to continue down the path of silence (this is how we get the silent Trump voter), or remain ignorant and "fit in" with the crowd.

Possibly because they've never lived in North Korea, or China, or Iran, or any of the other nations on this planet (and there are many!) where people who speak ill of the government get thrown in prison, tortured, raped, hanged, or sometimes all four.

They have no idea how lucky they are.

Because when you are dead inside, you sometimes need to shove your hand into the meat slicer just to feel something.

Just had flashbacks to that Mickey Rourke movie, The Wrestler.

  1. They were never taught as children to be grateful for anything. 2. They have been brainwashed their entire lives to hate this country. 3. they are comparing everything to a leftist ideal utopia that has never and will never exist.

It's victimhood mixed with the human race is going extinct garnished with all your problems in life come from (insert group) and not your personal choice with a blind eye to the reality that they live in a shithole.

It's the safe space episode of Southpark, but real.

They breathe it alright. And when they get drunk I will offer them my delicious ribs. https://imgur.com/a/Jzfq0eL
