Dems literally howled and swore until Bush Jr. let them pass an authorization for the invasion of Iraq. Bush argued that the same authority they had given him for Afghanistan was still in effect, and open ended enough to include Iraq.

Dems fought hard to put their signature on the documents.

I don't remember this at all. I remember it being all about Bush being Hitler.

Are there any key words I can look up to help narrow down a search for this? I'm not surprised at all, I was just listening to the mainstream at the time.

That "Bush = Hitler" shift was after we captured Sadam and it had become clear that the WMDs that we had been told were there never got found.

Never mind that the simple and unspoken reason that we knew the WMDs were there is because we had given that shit to Sadam back in the 80's to keep Soviet influence in Iran from spilling out over the whole Middle East.

Also, generally ignored/forgotten, is the fact that invading Iraq showed Quaddafi over in Libya that we weren't playing around. He very publically disavowed and demolished all three WMD programs (nuke, chem, and bio) in a giant bonfire pit.

Which is why Obama and Clinton felt no hesitation to do what they eventually did in Libya.
