My parents never paid attention to politics until the last few years. My dad's parents were farmers; kids of the Depression, who told him to never vote for a Republican. My mom's parents were major union folks who told her never to vote for a Republican. It's taken years, but they're finally seeing the light.

I've seen so much of this. Older Catholics that always voted dem are switching by the dozens.

He truly is pathetic, you're actually a better Catholic if you criticize him, since he's the blasphemer.

The other day my landlord(retired judge, elderly and in the very early stages of dementia) said to me, "The only way we win is straight ticket R, isn't it? That's what we have to tell folks." He has huge influence in my county and state, so I'm glad he's telling people that.

My dad was a hard-core Dem (RIP), but I know he would love Trump. Back in his day being a democrat meant something to working people. I'm so sad Dad didn't live long enough to see this spectacle of a year and Trump's amazing administration. He would have loved it!

There are so many proud Americans who didn't live long enough to see and enjoy Trump. We must appreciate every minute we have with this amazing President.

Oh hell yeah. Old people aren't out commiting crimes and they directly need the police to protect them. They don't buy into the ACAB crap at all. The second they see ACAB blocking streets, they're already angry that the police aren't doing anything to get them out of the streets.

Do you mean they're voting for the first time, or voting Republican for the first time? Either way, wow!!

Voting for the first time in their life. They always said they were Democrats. They just didn't know better.

Dem party went hard radical. Doesn't even remotely resemble Dem party from even 15-20 years ago.

Finally, they can fight off the "boomer" stereotype social media pushes.

Also find people in your family to make sure they vote....unless they're dems they don't say anything. My aunt, who is disabled, never voted in 20 years! I got all her information updated, signed her up for mail in ballot and las week I helped her make her selections. She agreed with my recommendations and I dropped off the ballot into the USPS blue box on my way home. Every vote counts :)

I've never understood non voters.

It's your one chance to make a difference, a small difference, but a real one.

never let that go to waste.

Stockholm syndrome is so strong with so many generations of Americans. So sad.
