Out of all the classic shows, I always thought that HAPPY DAYS and BEWITCHED
Like many tv shows in the 1970s and 1980s, 1st seasons were "good", 2nd seasons were "ok", and all seasons after that were "unwatchable". (See Starsky & Hutch, for instance). Scott Baio's character was introduced in the 3rd or 4th season and he was an instant hit. Scott Baio gave that entire franchise lucrative "legs" that are, literally, paying dividends to this day.
