I know a few leftists - through work - that would say the same. In the next breath, just like Leslie, they immediately say it's "over" or "in the past" or that it "doesn't matter now". In other words, if she hasn't faced consequences yet, it should be forgiven.
They use the same argument with illegals and the "dreamers" - that they weren't caught for years, so should be allowed to stay.
I ask them if that's what they want, bank robbers should keep the money they steal, so long as they can evade capture for a period of time, right?
