Every single time Biden does that stupid “person missing at the dinner table cause of covid” shtick, I shrivel up. So so corny. Even if we believe the numbers, 200k dead in a country of 300 million is like 0.1% of people. I’m fudging these numbers in favor of the leftist talking points but even then, in an extended family of 20 people, the chance of a single person having died is 2%. I don’t know anyone in my extended family who has died from Covid and nor do 98 out of 100 families in this country according to my rough math.
So I don’t know who Biden is trying to rally when he speaks directly to a hypothetical family who has had family members die cause the numbers are stacked against him.
Exactly this. My entire family got Covid a few months back after going on vacation. My mother and sister were basically fine, but I ended up in the hospital for a week with both Covid and pneumonia, and my father (who had a wide variety of health issues, including diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and so on) also ended up in the hospital for a week before he passed away.
Is it sad? Absolutely. Would I prefer that my father didn't die? Of fucking course. But does it change the scientific evidence we have on hand, from multiple sources, that state that Covid is basically a nothing burger for the overwhelming majority of people who will come into contact with it? Does it change the scientific studies we've had for decades that show that masks are basically useless against viruses? Does it change the fact that our world needs to return to normal now that we've not only got multiple countermeasures against the symptoms Covid creates, but we've got herd immunity that only grows larger every day?
Same. So sick of that corny bullshit lol
Everyone is. That rang so true with everyone.

Abso-fucking-lutely not.
