This site is yugely popular. It’s a very complex forum with a ton of active users. That takes a lot of effort to build and maintain. Even Reddit goes down regularly and they have dramatically more resources than .win. Be happy it even exists at all.

I can assure you the problem isn't bandwidth. Distributed systems at scale are extremely difficult to maintain, technologically speaking.

Edit: I completely wrong. He quite literally said in a recent post the problem was intra-server bandwidth, something I've personally dealt with on high volume sites I've built from the ground up, but wouldn't have guessed is the bottleneck. I hedged that this was a case of non-tech people just throwing words around, like mixing up RAM and disk space. Turns out... it was actually bandwidth 🦅

I would disagree with you, as this is precisely my core competency, but...

Sites properly built on formidable hosting with elasticity are easy to scale automatically with demand. The complicated part is answering “who can we trust to host this site?” This immediately rules out just about all of the big tech cloud hosts; and the fewer people you trust, the more you must do, yourself.

It's not complex for you to stop being a whiney and entitled bitch. We're all indebted to our mods for making this site and all the shit they put up with at Reddit when it would have been far easier to just give up or go about their daily lives. Show some gratitude.

Quit being an entitled brat pissing and moaning about something that the god mods make available to us for free.

But for some it's complex to take a pill and stick their loser tantrums up their ass.

Take a pill bucko. This community is fine.

But many have offered to donate to the site to upgrade and were told "no" Many tried to get on tonight and were unable. Please let us all help with as much as we can. We are all one big family. We try to help each other . If we are unable to even get on .Win we cannot communicate.I will send 100.00 dollars as soon as you give me a place to donate. It means so much to me. I am happy to be here but it can be even stronger with better servers for the elections . Otherwise we are going to face a very sad night ..unable to talk with each other. Let us donate all that we can. Please .win ..Let us donate starting tomorrow.

I'll chip in $100 to upgrade from the C-64 to an Amiga. And buy two more hamsters and hamster wheels.

I have seen elsewhere in these conversations that part of what they’re trying to do is make it clear that this site is not being run for profit. Therefore they don’t want people paying for it. I can understand wanting to head off that accusation.

Thank you . Yes, that makes sense.

We all are more than happy that it exists, but if during a big event no one can get on and comment it does not serve the purpose. Many of us will donate all that we can in order to not have the site crash on an important night like this when discussions are so important. Nov. 3 is coming very soon. I want to be able to share my thoughts and feelings as they happen, not days later when the traffic slows down and lets me comment. We want to be able to donate for upgrades and have been told "NO" and then the site fails during the debates. I am so puzzled by this. We want to help build this site to handle much more traffic and we are told "NO"

Relative to Reddit it works great.

Whoever set this up behind the scenes did us all a favor.

It happens. There are actors working against them.

Take a breath

Enough with the hateorade. Scaling is tough and these guys are providing this service for free. Too much redpilling happening every day!

This site makes my browser freeze up if I scroll down too far. I basically have 15 minutes to look around and then I have to close my browser and open it again to come back and do some more scrolling. It's only this site and I've used several different browsers and it happens to all of them. It's weird.

DDOS is something even major companies have to contend with. Just ask every online game company.

It doesn’t matter if it’s down on election night. Nobody is not going to vote for trump on election night if the site is down.

May as well ask Putin for some money to buy Hillary's extra servers.

I've been here for almost a year. A lot of big things have happened and it has literally not gone down every time something important happened.

The amount you’re aloud to complain is equal to the amount of effort and money you put into building this site. Calm yourself and be grateful it exists at all.
