Politely disagree, Pede. The President handled the debate very well, but consider the huge number of follow up questions she asked him as opposed to Joe, and how Biden was never held to account for the fact that he never gave any specific answers, instead only sticking to hope and change levels of vague generalities. Also how she would consistently tell Biden he could respond to the President, while the President always had to fight for his when she was trying to immediately move onto the next question.

She might not have interrupted as often, but when she did, it was always to come in and try to save Joe when he was about to say something that could get him in big trouble.

I very strongly believe the only reason that Welker even pretended to be polite in this one was because of the absolute comedy of errors that lead up to this debate, between Wallace's circus and Scully getting fired, and the dueling Town Halls, and everyone dragging her dem connections out into the open for everyone to see. They were on their best behavior, and they still couldn't keep themselves from acting like snakes.

Do not get me wrong, Trump won, and won handily. But it was despite the moderator, not because she was in any way fair. Our expectations were just so low, that her not openly being a screeching harpy can make it seem like she did better than she actually did. Not overly unlike the optics of the first debate with Biden, who came off seeming almost a little bit like a winner just because he didn't literally shit his pants on the stage while he was having a stroke.
