Seriously. Senior developer here working in java spring boot backends for years now and have reached out to mods to ask how I can contribute and just get crickets.
Site was probably put together hastily and not pen tested or performance tested. How can so few people build a site that is getting hits like this one. Takes teams of engineers to make big sites like this perform well. Could be a million things going wrong. Not large enough servers. Not large enough cluster sizes. Load balancers not working how they want or need. Poorly optimized dB calls. Running out of dB connection threads and pooling issues. Making too many server calls from client to do routine things. Not caching where they could or should. They simply just need more eyes on it and there are lots here with the know how and willingness.
Cloud architect with multiple decades of experience in data security in large infrastructures. There is no reason this site should not be able to stay up 24 x 7 no matter how much it's being attacked if an appropriate load balancing , failover, and reactive firewalling strategy is in place.

But you will write a fancy report about how.
