Sizes of emp are likely much much smaller than talked about in science fiction. I dont think everything would get fried, vehicles tend to be fairly shielded by the metal exterior and frame. I think its all just exaggerated.
Well if you're thinking of scenarios like the Sun producing a coronal mass ejection, then yes that would be far more devastating than a manmade EMP, and the effects would last much longer.
this... EMP attack (man made) would be bad locally but easily overcome - a wave of particles from that big fuggin star over there would be the only blanket blackout scenario, could be very bad
Having looked into it a few times, EMP stuff is mostly just a larp fantasy. Not actually a threat imo
