Then someone else linked to some interesting research on an engineered variant of the virus that combines Covid-19 with Anthrax, officially this is being developed as a method of developing a vaccine (basically the addition of anthrax to the coding of Covid-19 or certain other coronaviruses allows for better penetration of human cells and there for is considered a viable method to create a vaccine). From my understanding it wouldn't be too complicated (compared to making the vaccine) to modify the anthrax to be symptomatic while ate the same time utilizing to Coronavirus to act as a more efficient method of delivery.
Most store-bought tomatoes include a certain fruit fly gene that prevents them from going mushy too fast on the shelf. It's not only possible to swap genes across species, it is implemented into our food chain.

Viruses are fundamentally different things than organisms, they aren't really alive in any conventional sense, they're bits of genetic code that can only replicate using structures from an organism's cells.
The macro world already shares a substantial amount of genes (iirc humans and corn share around 50%), so taking a gene from a fly and putting it into a tomato, or taking a gene from a spider's spinneret gland and putting it in a goat's milk gland isn't as vast a jump as one might imagine.
But the viral world doesn't operate anything like that; things that make Anthrax successful as a pathogen (genes that code for tough cell walls, antigens, toxic exudations, etc) are largely moot to a virus - it just "wants" to get inside a cell and make copies of itself.
I would be more convinced if someone were talking about splicing components from a highly contagious but generally nonlethal virus onto a similar class of lethal virus.

I got a maxpedition sitka slingbag as a gobag. Attach it on a plate carrier with 2 carabiner clips, it has its own retention strap, and it actually stays in place much better than the regular 2 strap packs.
