my dad was almost one of them. lucky he had better insurance that he sold himself years ago because he knew the VA was crap. got cancer (flared up again recently) 6 months after his treatment was done from his other coverage the VA was like 'you can come in now'

THe VA has been horrendous for DECADES....
2 of my brother in laws both died young from BAD CARE from the VA.
I suppose they have improved somewhat recently - but they are far more concerned about statistics and costs of care - than other doctors.
