I wish Trump explained this one better actually. What is happening is people who are NOT the real parents come with kids across the border. Then, once they cross and get special treatment for having kids with them, they abandon the kids as they disappear into the US, since they aren't their kids anyway. These kids are either trafficked kids, orphans, abandoned kids the Cartels and Coyotes pickup, or they are literally sold by their own parents in Central America or Mexico to be used for this.
It sounds disgusting, it is terrible, It is also why the Border Patrol and Homeland Security started rolling out DNA testing of people who claimed to be parents. The problem though is this is limited. They have gotten wise to this so some "fake" parents are claiming their kids are adopted now, or something like that. This is an impossible thing to verify so you can't just assume in all cases that because no DNA match they aren't actually a real family unit.
Well, when you have half a million people a year illegally move across that border, you're going to end up with some % of cases like this. It's not because the US is shipping these people off after stealing their kids. No, it's the parents themselves abandoned the kids.
Just think, this is the kind of person the State assigns to your criminal case for free....
