Dr. Ben Carson.

But ok, go ahead and make blanket assumptions. I'm the FURTHEST thing from being a person who agrees with diversity hires or doing anything other than "give the best candidate the job."

To assert that a black doctor is automatically disqualified from the possibility even of being that best candidate, is actually incredibly racist.

Not trying to attack you here, but rather pushing back against this as a fellow conservative (I'm assuming) - because people expressing views like you just have are a massive reason why so many people view all Conservatives/Republicans/Trump Supporters as racist xenophobes.

I genuinely ask you to reconsider your views.

zoober_floober 37 points ago +41 / -4 (edited)

Without the ability to meaningfully research doctors (the AMA has prevented the public from being able to do that for a long time), he's forced to go with the odds, is all.

That's not racism, that's an intelligent decision.

28
ClownTamer 28 points ago +28 / -0

His opinion is the result of affirmative action policies. It’s not a novel opinion. For example, I always assume by default in a work environment that if there’s a woman, she probably has no idea what she’s doing and will complain a lot. The competent women I work with assume the same. We are right 95% of the time.

28
kjj9 28 points ago +28 / -0

The one thing you know about a white doctor is that no one gave him an easy pass for fear of being called racist if they didn't. With a black doctor and affirmative action, you don't know if they got where they are on merit or not.

That doesn't mean that there aren't good black doctors, and it doesn't mean that there are no bad white doctors.

When you encounter a doctor for the first time, you know almost nothing about that person. But "almost nothing" isn't quite the same as actually nothing. I don't begrudge anyone for using the one tiny piece of information they have when it is their ass on the line.

No I get your point, I do. I just don't think you win points by attacking your own side. If someone calls for legal lynching laws then I might be a bit more understanding, but this guy has a right to choose his own doctor, whatever his criteria may be, to deem it necessary to attack that is a bit intrusive in my opinion. Just remember racial pride is good unless you're white.

I’ve brought my kids to a black ear nose and throat specialist and he’s the best one in town.

Edit: it’s true. He put tubes in two of my kids’ ears and we’ve had no issues or complications. Another pede brought up Ben Carson. You can’t make assumptions. Look into the guy’s reputation.

Holy shit. This tweet has got to be fabricated. I didn’t think it was this bad, and still refuse to. Either this tweet is bs, or the fact that she’s not an attorney, or maybe just a troll. Because if this is true, I can’t imagine a future where literal borderline retards, which I genuinely suspect she is, are the intellectuals of tomorrow. Idiocracy as a comedy is funny, but as a reality, it’s terrifying.

It's legit., and she is in the GA. house of state reps, too.

David Hogg, The Harvard grad anti-gun "kid" from Florida, said essentially the same thing. He thinks "coyotes" are Trump's slur against Mexican parents who snuck their kids into the country.

These libtards are properly named.

The guy answered his own question. She is ignorant because of her education not in spite of it, because American "education" is more maleducation and miseducation. This is a woman who has never seen a glimpse of a world outside academia and government, never seen anything that wasn't printed in the washington post or NYT, and is abjectly ignorant as a result.

43
Oldguard08 43 points ago +44 / -1

Yup, show me an expert and you have shown me a fool. You can never know everything and the more you know about 1 subject the less knowledge of something else you will have. The lack of humility these people have is proof to their ignorance because intelligent people will be self-aware enough to realize that maybe before accusing someone of stupidity for the world to see. That you might want to make sure you're understanding the definitions of the words used and how maybe something more logical like a slang term used in this exact context is commonplace to those more informed than yourself. She is a pretentious cunt and deserves all the blow back and beat down her name gets.

27
WhiteTrashJesus 27 points ago +27 / -0

I don’t think I ever heard the term but I used context clues and learned what it means from what he said, just like they teach you in 2nd grade

We might have grown up in a different era when the answers weren't at your finger tips on a whim?🤣

15

I remember having to camp out at libraries to try and find just a tidbit of information that hopefully had a reference to more info that I could convince them to order for me via inter-library loan.

11
Oldguard08 11 points ago +11 / -0

Made it worth it though. My mom worked for library part time in the evenings. Best daycare ever, find a book read it and don't bother anyone. 🤷‍♂️

3
residue69 3 points ago +3 / -0

When I wasn't in a library, I lived in the sci-fi section of a used bookstore near where my mom worked.

All before anyone thought to put comfy chairs near books.

12
Philhelm 12 points ago +12 / -0 (edited)

I posted elsewhere here that not knowing the term isn't stupid; what's stupid was that she wouldn't think to look up the word considering the context and the lack of a reaction from Biden/the moderator.

9
WhiteTrashJesus 9 points ago +9 / -0

Exactly. If you come across a word you don’t know: 1)sound it out 2)use context clues 3)look it up if you still don’t understand

6
Licensetomeme 6 points ago +6 / -0

Dude, I used to wonder why there are some people unable to figure out sarcasm. Now I’m beginning to think they’re just stoopid..... It’s interesting, too, that I’ve almost never had to clarify my own sarcasm here on tdw as I’ve felt I had to elsewhere. I think there’s been like one or two instances, literally. It’s freeing not having to worry too much about that.

3
WhiteTrashJesus 3 points ago +3 / -0

Sometimes they know you are sarcastic but play stupid and use it against you like the fake news does to GEOTUS daily

4
Licensetomeme 4 points ago +4 / -0

But they’re not the side to learn from their mistakes.

2

It's okay not to know something.

But being arrogant about it is the definition of stupidity.

Here - I'll explain. Dar'shun Kendrick has been passed through every grade level since kindergarten despite serious questions about her aptitude. Dar'shun was accepted into a college she was unqualified to attend. Dar'shun was graded on a different scale than her peers when she was in college. Dar'shun was accepted into law school, which she was woefully unprepared for and again, was graded on a different scale.

And then, she was a diversity hire for corporate America, an institution so large that her incompetence can be hidden away in a small office, buried under a mountain of legal documents her superiors only trust her to scan into a digital record. And she fucks that up.

Dar'shun is a retard.

23
Philhelm 23 points ago +23 / -0

Her paralegals are probably the heavy lifters. That's likely true of most law firms.

16
MisterGuapo 16 points ago +16 / -0

True! I worked a short time for a former judge who went back to practising law. One of my jobs was going to the Law Library and researching for precedents he could use in his cases.

I left because he was a nutcase. Poor wife took so much verbal abuse from him. I was surprised somebody so mentally chaotic could be a judge. I would have hated to have been somebody getting sentenced by him when he was having a bad day. If you got him on the next day, it would have been totally different.

17

12
Homopratensis2 12 points ago +12 / -0

I'll tell you how. 12 years of a not very bright girl being pushed along in the education system. All wheels greased along the way. Then college where the profs were probably afraid to give anything by As regardless of work quality. And finally law school where it was more of the same. This is why she is so confident yet stupider than the just your average Joe. The only feedback she had ever received is from folks who responded according to the fact she is black. If she was a mechanic, where the engine is truly colorblind, and she never got it running again she would know she is stupid. It's sad because this hurts everyone. Society has another dumb lawyer and sooner later reality will bite her in the ass and she will be totally unprepared.

1
YuriBezmenov 1 point ago +1 / -0

Welcome to the future. These people will be in charge of the big institutions eventually. We're heading for disaster; I fear America is not going to be the monolithic force of nature that it once was. How can we compete when we worship mediocrity?

1
Homopratensis2 1 point ago +1 / -0

Mediocrity isn't such a problem IMO. The problem is lack of gatekeeping. Barriers existed to prevent people lacking ability into positions where they can cause harm. For example, I do not want idiots operating nuclear reactors. Our culture presently worships breaking down those barriers, removing the gatekeepers. I get that sometimes in the past this stuff was bullshit, but not all of it is. This woman here is an example of someone who should have been blocked long ago.

This is a great example of where education, government and corporate policies of race based quotas have gotten us. The number of unqualified people of color in positions of management is astronomical in the United States. I have seen it multiple times at my workplace. I don't give a flying fuck if someone is black, brown, purple, as long as they can do the job. You don't get a free pass just because HR needs to meet their numbers. America, just hire the most qualified person!!!
