We need more nuclear, which is far more reliable and has far less of a footprint than solar/wind, but operating plants are shutting down every year while only one new plant is currently being built in the US.
Still need oil/gas for other purposes, but nuclear would provide the cleanest and safest baseload.
This. I don't understand why nuclear is having so much trouble coming into the spotlight. If we want to talk emissions, stop bringing up renewables - nuclear is much better for the economy, the infrastructure, and the environment.
But muh "Costa Rica is 100% green energy why can't we be!"
Cause our country doesn't exist in a tropical rainforest with tons of rainfall every year to fuel hydroelectric power. Also despite being a country that thrives on renewable energy they're still a third world shithole.
Uhhh Joe, we need oil. It’s how things work. Say goodbye to your campaign lol
Even if you cut out energy, the modern world is hugely dependent on oil for plastics and fertilizers and other chemicals. So much it's not even funny.
