I’m sure there was a time when we all heard the term border coyote and thought wtf does that mean? But instead of assuming the person saying it is a moron, we looked up what it meant. That’s a major difference between us and them.
This, exactly. I remember learning this term years ago. One can deduce it from newspaper articles describing how people pay their life savings to coyotes to bring them across the border. It takes minimal critical thinking skills to deduce that a coyote must be a person because people would not give cash to an animal, lol.
There's a huge Coyotes mural (by which I mean graffiti that the Mexican authorities are either too lazy or too scared to clean up) right off the main highway into Tijuana, just south of San Diego. Impossible not to know who and what they are if you've ever bothered to cross the border yourself.
Liberals live in their urban/suburban enclaves and are completely ignorant of the world outside their neighborhood.

Not knowing what a coyote is in this context only leaves 2 possible conclusions: 1) you know absolutely nothing about illegal immigration and have never even bothered listening to the problem or people's proposals for addressing it, or 2) you're being 100% disingenuous and either lying about not knowing, or some other stupid reason such as 'I don't believe in borders'.

My husband’s from Ohio but we live in a border state now. I grew up in what is essentially a border town. He had NO idea what it’s really like down there. His family in Ohio has no idea.
He once told me that “we can take care of everybody.” I shut that shit down fast.
I love pointing out to the "we can take care of everybody" people the immigration policies of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, every non-shithole tainted country left on the planet and they're dumbfounded.

What shut my husband up was me telling him that my grandmother lost most of her state Medicare benefits because the program had to be defunded to pay for illegals. While his grandmother is comfy in a beautiful church-run nursing home staffed by college volunteers and nuns in his lily-white region of Ohio. How would you like it if your grandmother lost that place because illegals overran it? And was dying before her time because of lack of care?

These countries have immensely strong immigration stances.
I.e Canada doesn’t grant citizenship to anyone who has a disability that would be on the government’s dime.
New Zealand is really strict. You cannot emigrate there unless you prove that you will be an asset rather than a liability. They already have enough non-producers.
Unless you're rich or hold an advanced degree in a field that the country actively has a shortage of and you're being hired by a local company (who has to prove they couldn't find a resident to fill the position) you are not going to get a visa to work there, let alone citizenship.
Contrary to what the cock guzzling lefties in the US think, you can't just pick and choose a nation to live in like you're picking a favorite kool-aid flavor.
As an expat in Switzerland, I can confirm the lengthy process to prove you are vital to live here. Even if one spouse has a job to sponsor the residence permit, the other spouse has to get clearance, and provide proof of their education/degrees and can be held back to be formally 'reunified' later in the country. Then you have to renew the residency permit in another year.
You cannot even open a bank account without a proven source of income (aka a job)...and with out a bank account, since everything is digital here, there extra steps to pay your bills. Good luck paying your bills.
And health insurance is totally on your own, work only covers one part of the person who is employed and not the spouse. Our estimated annual out of pocket cost (before insurance kicks in) is CHF 17,000 just to be covered for two people.

I should say, I love his big heart and I love that impulse in people... in an abstract way. But the second it becomes government policy, uninformed by reality, the horror starts.
When I hear people say that, I always say "ok fine, let's start with you first." We'll sell off your cars, house and other assets and use that to purchase them homes, health care and educations. It's going to cost a lot and everyone has to contribute.
Every time you direct the question of cost, contribution and personal sacrifice back to a liberal, you often get a complete change in tone, or they lash out at you then walk away calling you a "racist."
I've got a liberal friend who is building himself a beautiful house; lots of very nice amenities. He constantly posts to Facebook about the importance of caring for migrants. Meanwhile, two miles away, local hispanic families are packed into cheap affordable housing. It would be so awesome if he put his money where his mouth is, and lived in a less-expensive home thus freeing up money that he could use to to care for the POC. But no, that's the government's job, not his.

How many poor people are there in Central and South American alone?
