I'm sure your husband is just a nice person who hadn't really thought the statement through, but seriously, if he had thought about it for about 5 seconds he'd see it's a ridiculous thing to say. How many poor people are there in Central and South American alone? How many people in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, etc. (not including the cartel and gang members that also come skipping across the border whenever they want)? And if we're going to be "fair," we can't just accept people south of the border, what about poor people in Africa or India? Start adding those numbers up Mr. Nice Guy.
