The amount of CO2 produced to make and transport these huge blades is greater than what the actual windmill will save over its... short... lifetime. Hence the term "net zero" the windmills are net producers of CO2 but they buy and sell carbon credits to end up "net zero".
Made a point about this last night.
How do we get the raw materials to make the windmills/solar panels?
Where do we get the energy to refine them and produce a finished product?
For windmills, what keeps them lubricated?
Is the end result a net positive or a net negative (i.e. does the product produce more energy during its useful lifetime than it took to create it)?
What happens to these products when they're at EoL?
