His hand looks terrible and the other hand looks like it had had an IV inserted (band-aid on location). Possible that the other hand was the first attempt and they botched it then had to try again. But that doesn't explain his face. Probably a bad fall. Old people fall a lot. Eyesight. Balance. Muscles atrophy. Feet problems. Etc.
The bruise on the right hand does not look like IV bruising to me. That looks more like a fall and he tried to catch himself with that arm. The other hand looks like an IV site. Face looks like he face planted, was punched or walked into a wall...hard.
