i don't really know how it works, but it may be a thing where trump can "match you money" like giving you a gift of cash, but earmarked by your consent to be donated.
This means you can write off your larger donation amount and he can technically inject more of his own money and say its small pede contributions.
might also be a legal way of him injecting more personal cash that maybe he isn't otherwise allowed to?
Honestly that's what I've always assumed. I definitely disapprove of that if it's a lie. I understand that it might appeal to some low information people but eh. Kinda sleezy imo.
I've donated to the Trump campaign but never when they've offered the matching because I don't know who's matching or if that money is already earmarked for the campaign and they're just calling it a match.
I would donate hundreds of dollars if I knew that money was being matched by someone who otherwise wouldn't donate, but I don't think this is the case.
I make donations to the Trump campaign (I'm on that dumb website). But I don't get the match thing. Why is it every day they claim they're "extending the deadline"? If it's really an "emergency" why would they do that? Why is it 500 some days and 600x others? LOL.
Because they're smart. They clearly know how to rake in the money. It's not like they're losing anything by asking you again, either you change your mind and donate this time or you don't. It's not like you're going to stop supporting Trump.
So the GOP could set up a thing "We'll match X% of your donations within this timeframe" to help individual candidates. That is most likely the case. That's how the democrat side works.
I would say people should expect a match if that's what it's claiming, otherwise it's a dirty lie. I agree it's marketing horseshit, but then to say no one should expect what they say to be true...that's a little fucked up and retarded
who's doing the "matching"?
Probably Trump himself

Always wondered this myself. They advertise that often but never really specify. I suppose I don't really go looking either.

This. A million times.

Slimy, you mean. Look I'm glad they're using what they can, but call it what it is.
Simple, another campaign finance thing is sending money to his campaign.
I can't donate directly to Trump more than 2800, but I can donate to various others.

It's just pure lies. It's a marketing tactic. I can't fault them because I'm sure it works, but it's underhanded.
Who knows what the match thing means, but what you know is that contributing money helps things. Just ignore the match.
I agree, I give anyway, but theres no need to insult our intelligence. I guess it helps some people donate, but it's still a lie.
It's probably just a marketing thing. I don't expect a match and no else should either.
