Snopes: Mostly False. Joe said not one single person and that is correct. 6 million had their insurance canceled not one single person, as Biden has correctly stated.

He also stated "lost". None of them were actually lost, just cancelled.

And you forgot to add that premiums went up 400 % instead of going down.Pay mor for premiums pay more out of pocket and get less service

lifeisahologram 15 points ago +15 / -0

I don’t know about you but I got way more service. I went from receiving just healthcare to also receiving an ass raping. A hooker would easily charge $1000 for that each time, and my health insurance included it everyday in my monthly premium!

STIDGIT64 5 points ago +5 / -0

If you put it that way my hooker had a 9 inch strap on and told me that it would cost an extra 1500 for vaseline.

I work indirectly for a health insurance company in tech.

We had a presentation last week from the higher ups about contingency plans depending on the election.

Three scenarios were presented, 2 with biden winning.

Under Trump, a lot more focus will be on individual coverage options and maximizing investment in that area. If Biden wins, the shift of focus will be on expanding into the Medicaid market. One bullet point being

Maximize Medicaid enrollment

What's the take away?

Insurance companies see the writing on the wall. Private coverage will not be able to compete against a public option. This bullet point is under the scenario where biden wins but we have a Republican senate. They are planning for a depression. Insurance companies don't like to invest in the Medicaid market as it's a race to the bottom for diminishing marginal of profit. It is profitable, at scale and if you can figure out how to cut corners on costs.

The other scenario where trump doesn't win is, Biden wins with a democrat house and senate. This is where the public option comes in.

The maximize Medicaid enrollment bullet is replaced with, "explore public option offerings". You will have to trade in your private coverage for coverage that competes with a public option that is at the same level of care as Medicaid.

If you've ever been on Medicaid, you will be familiar with how terrible the level of care can be, especially when you have vulture practices that specialize in Medicaid offerings. They're serving populations that don't have a choice in where they can go, so they cut all the corners, and they bill the government. So now, in the future unlikely event that you are gainfully employed, you will be paying for this public option with both your taxes and directly out of your paycheck via your enrollment.

Private companies will not be able to compete with an offering that you're already paying for via taxes, so they will simply offer the lowest common denominator of care while looking for other ways to diversify their income.

My company at the time provided us with so called Cadillac plans. When the time came, they called us all into the big board room and gave us a bright and cheery presentation on our new plan. During and afterwards everyone uncomfortably looked at each other knowing that this was the exact same plan, but three times as expensive.

Polterkitty 8 points ago +8 / -0

Lmao mine did the same thing 😂😂

1A_FTW 2 points ago +2 / -0

Well, we still wanted the plan even though we ourselves didn’t exactly need it, being young and healthy. But when I no longer worked there and didn’t have coverage, I looked up the cheapest state provided plan via the ACA (Obamacare) and it was a couple hundred dollars more than what we were paying with the new employer provided Cadillac plan. It also wasn’t nearly as nice. We opted to go without insurance and pay the fine on our taxes. This happened every year and grew more expensive until Trump removed it. We got lucky because it was getting to the point where we couldn’t afford to opt out despite still being in our late 20’s and not needing it.

this is why we need pure free market

I was one of them. I had an awesome affordable major medical plan, if i got a cough, or the flu, or needed basic medical care i just paid out of pocket. If i broke a femur, or got cancer, or needed an operation, insurance covered that.

Once Obamacare came in, my plan was no longer considered "Health Insurance" as it didn't meet all the bullshit criteria they set forth, so i would be fined for having it. The insurance company stopped offering it and i was forced onto a shitty plan that cost 3x as much money.

forindooruseonly 7 points ago +7 / -0

This is exactly what happened to me. Lost good affordable coverage for what i needed and instead, for a far higher cost, got a bullshit bronze plan that didn't cover shit. It was such a bad deal i just cancelled out altogether and took the tax hickey. Fuck Obamacare.

I lost my insurance. I had a catastrophic plan for 3 years. It was $82. When the ACA passed it went up to $128. They sent a letter saying that the plan went up due to new ACA requirements. The next year it was cancelled.

To add salt to the wound, I got on the ACA website and the cheapest plan was about $150. It had a higher out of pocket and higher deductible. I had it for one year before I was eligible for employee insurance.

Fuck Obamacare.

Fuck Obama.

FUCK HIS BUTTBOY BIDEN.

trumptrumptrumpy 8 points ago +8 / -0

One right here!

Had a beautiful plan for $150 a mo

It went from that to $800 a month in one month but the deductible also went from around 1k to 9k.

Then, my daughter got sick and was hospitalized for 3 mos. So we reached our 9k deductible and also paid nearly 10k in the premiums that year. Nearly 20k in one year that took us to the brink of bankruptcy. Had to sell our house to get the cash in order to pay off bills and thankful, our community helped us out tremendously as well.

We are absolutely fine now but that nearly shipwrecked us

Thanks Obama!

I am one. My new policy was more expensive and not as good. I remember talking about that with the nurse at my doctor'so office. For some reason, I automatically assumed she would be pro-Obamacare, but she seemed disturbed & sympathetic and had seen it happen to a number of people. Perhaps she was more upset that she had to deal with all the new insurance paperwork, I dunno.

Pence is a really under appreciated VP. He's been rock solid for 4 years, does a great job at staying out of the spotlight and drumming up support for Trump, and he absolutely btfo of heels up Harris during their debate.

Obama Care sign up was around November. Letter received in December said our provider was no longer selling plans in CA as they were not profitable under Obama Care.

We had the privilege of signing up for Obama Care. Premium went from $320 a month to $789 a month. For shitty care. We had to go without for two years and pay a fine for it.

4
lifeisahologram 4 points ago +4 / -0

Mine was cancelled too.

I had a nice $30 a month plan. And the first renewal following the implementation of Obamacare that plan no longer existed and I could only get a plan that cost about $100.

Leftists will say that’s the same plan and just a price increase but it wasn’t, all coverages changed. Even if it had the same coverage, I think the 3.5x increase was materially different enough it constituted a new service, since I went from receiving healthcare to receiving an ass raping.

2
M8kMdlErthGr8Again 2 points ago +2 / -0

What kind of coverage did you get for $30 a month. That sounds ridiculously low, even back then.

3
lifeisahologram 3 points ago +3 / -0

I worked at eBay at the time, it was an excellent plan. Basically full coverage everything.

3
M8kMdlErthGr8Again 3 points ago +3 / -0

Ahh makes sense now. $30 was your portion.

Ebay probably paid about $370.

Luckily my company pays mine, it's a lot. Back then it was about 40 percent of today, with a little better coverage.

4
lifeisahologram 4 points ago +4 / -0

That's correct, sorry should have specified that's just what I paid, wasn't the total cost of the healthcare. However even after the price increases, eBay still paid the same amount, they just didn't pay the extra amount. Same at every employer I had following the implementation of the ACA.

Granted I didn't work at health care providing employers too long pre-ACA (basically from 2008, and just between 2 employers) but in those few years my health care premiums never increased from each renewal. However my premiums ALWAYS increased at every renewal even at the same company post-ACA. Got to the point I just had to cancel health insurance entirely and paid the fine because it was cheaper to just pay cash for doctor visits and pay the fine than it was to pay my monthly premium.

3
Slothboy 3 points ago +3 / -0

Mine wasn't technically cancelled, it just became unaffordable

3
RuleoVicus 3 points ago +3 / -0

I went completely without insurance when Obamacare was implemented.

Through loopsholes I will not disclose I didn't have to file any taxes, so no Obamacare penalty either. (There's a lot I do about a lot of legal, but questionable, things I'll never, ever, let be exposed. From these tax loopholes to being how to be truly ghosted from NSA querying. If we were in a forest without a single electronic device, and I trusted you, I'll spill).

In a high-risk job, I certainly took a risk being uninsured. Didn't care. No one was going to force me to do fucking SHIT.

I lost my coverage, as my insurance provider went out of business. I currently pay more than twice what I used to for my "affordable" insurance. Please, Joe, don't make it more affordable; I'll have to file bankruptcy.

The cost of our insurance coverage is still going through the roof.

My husband and I are in our 60's, work hard to maintain our health through nutrition and physical conditioning, we are medication free.
