Here's the reality: we aren't going back to anything that you think we should. Trump is not some savior of Republican Christian ideals. He is the first President to support gay marriage from the get go. He is still very much a New York Democrat. I don't know where some of you ding dongs get this idea that we're gonna return to traditionalism and gender roles because guess what ya dumb fucks? We ain't. MAGA isn't just hard core Christian Right Wingers. It is actually a legitimately diverse group of people who believe in America: a country where you can deiced to live and be whatever you choose. This means that gays are going to still be around. This means that strong, independent women are still going to be around. MAGA will not survive in the modern age if it chooses to embrace rolling back to ideals that are outdated and very much un-American. If you live in a traditional gender rolled household, that is perfectly fine. That is your right. But guess the fuck what? It is also the right of Americans to swap roles or even live both of the same or whatever. America isn't this Christian Nation of such values. It is based on the ideals of freedom and doing whatever whenever... within reason.
If you're still holding onto the illusion of restoration of misguided values, then you are dragging the movement down. America is the land of opportunity. The opportunity to do whatever whenever regardless of what others think. If a woman wants to try and be a Navy Seal, she should try and do so. If a man wants to wear pink and prance around, again this is America. Do whatever you want. America is great when we don't try to dictate what others can and can't do. Everybody I know goes to church not only on Sunday, but Wed. night, too. I had my own kid in a private, Christian K-12 school, and her piano teacher is a staunch Mennonite. The hygienist who cleans my teeth is a fundamentalist Baptist, and her daughter's my daughter's bff. Many of the kids who went to her school were Pentecostals. My jeweler is a Catholic. You meet someone, first thing they want to do is take you to church.
These aren't hypothetical "Christians". They're real people. I interact with them all day, every day, for the last 35 years. And, I'm here to tell you that the shitposters you're upset about, and the real world Christians 'out there in the wild', are two different creatures.

I agree with the OP on several things, but I also think that Trump should go back to the traditional Republican value of balancing the budget and limiting the national debt. I think his strategy is to lower taxes to induce growth, and tax revenues have indeed increased.

The separation of church and state is important, though. Look at Utah. Compared to other states, they heavily restrict bars & alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other things that the Mormon church frowns upon. Not exactly a theocracy, but you can definitely see the Mormon influence in state laws.

I have butted heads with "proud sexists" and I agree with the free exchange of ideas. However, some people think that we're gonna be a Christian nation again... I do not nor do I want to be even though I believe in God. I am also an American first and that means establishing a country where people choose Him freely as He wanted and not by force.
There are base morals that need to be agreed to. Protecting childhood innocence and the rights of the unborn are paramount. Of course more societal changes need to occur like taking care of rape victims and offering protections and support to single mothers as well as better accountability for fathers. We also need to get vat babies going. As well as not denying treatment to healthy young women who want to be sterilized.

My personal thinking is that, I want more kids to be adopted to good parents. The domestic Islams have gone quiet since ISIS was beaten down. Most of them are reform and just as disorganized as Christianity. Religious extremism is bad regardless. There's a difference between "values" and "law". The law is based on the constitution which was based on traditional Republican, Christian values. Those values have never gone away and never will go away unless the Democrats usurp the government in the far future and abolish the constitution, because the constitution incapsulates the values. Just because laws have been updated and changed, that doesn't mean our values have changed, because those laws can only be updated and changed BECAUSE of our values. Women getting the right to vote and gays being able to get married don't go against traditional values, because traditional values aren't authoritarian.
The law is based on the principles of freedom. Traditional values are authoritarian as they dictate what roles people must fulfill. They don't appear that way when you agree with them, but when a gay person wants to marry another gay person, it goes directly against traditional marriage and for years societies have ostracized them.
There's a simple fix and that's to abolish government ordained marriage which is unconstitutional.

The "sexism" of centuries past was very tied to technological progression and biology. Traditionally, because men were stronger they were needed to farm, work, fight wars, etc. Women were expected to be mothers not because of an evil patriarchy plot, but because of the biology of pregnancy and breastfeeding, and there weren't too many jobs back then that relied solely on the mind and intellect. Cavemen didn't have cubicles. Traditional gender roles were a result of technology and biology, and later sexism was a result of an appeal to tradition.
The industrial revolution, and the information revolution, made men's physical strength less important. The advent of widespread literacy and schooling made it so women could have jobs and pursue their dreams, while their children were being cared for by others (whether or not that's a good thing is up for debate). So it doesn't make sense to be a "proud sexist" because the technological paradigm that required traditional gender roles doesn't exist anymore.
I can see the argument that married women who have children ought to be active mothers rather than dropping kids off at daycare to work a job, but not all women are married or mothers, and there has to be an equal seat at the table for women in terms of careers.

You're correct that technology won't flatten biology, it's just that the industrial revolution was largely what enabled women to enter the workforce, for better or worse. That led to a host of other things... it was difficult to argue against women's suffrage once more women became taxpayers.
Some of what we see with the MeToo movement and the villainization of men is indeed social engineering, which should be condemned, but that wasn't what I was referring to.

It doesn't help that corporations took advantage of women entering the workforce and haven't raised wages since the 70s. Add to it that folks were convinced that was acceptable and shamelessly shill for the billionaires who live off the backs of struggling workers. Not all billionaires and corps are bad. However we need to give tax incentives to companies that do pay a living wage for 90% of their workforce. I agree with starting wage, but you should be able to sustain a household consisting of a couple and three dependents.
