I think the main difference is that we knew that Obama wasn't really the problem - there was no point in having a personal beef with the poor faggot - it was communism and anti-Americanism in general that was the problem. Obama was just their agent. So why project all of your fears and hatred on one guy? The Left always personalize their hatred and fear. To them Trump is the root of all evil. They don't like the ideas he represents, but they can't hate ideas, so they hate Trump himself. To them, he and he alone is responsible for every single thing wrong in their lives. Until, of course, the next successful conservative comes along.
The only punctuation is an explanation point at the end so every time I read that I just William Shatner the hell out of it and it takes on new meanings: "Fuck Trump if you like Trump. Fuck you too!" "Fuck Trump if you like. Trump fuck (sic) you too!"
