It would catch one drone at best, before others are alerted. The total territory you'd need to wire, and that at a high altitude would make that near impossible.
Tornadoes, hurricanes, downdrafts are rather rare phenomenons. Weather intel could counter these issues - but sensors might provide sufficient warning as well.
