I think a "cheap" version of private schools is needed - but base it off of the Hillsdale College curriculum on civics, everyday finance, debt avoidance (or at least controlling it - I break the Ramsey rule of no CCs because I gas up with plastic), sewing, cooking, and basic construction and maintenance (facility and vehicular).
And don't forget the three basics: reading, writing, and 'rithmatic.
