It's like high school drama. You have some bitchy popular girl who hates the punk rock kid just because the punk rock kid one day said someone that she took offense to. The bitchy girl tells everyone how the kid sucks and is a horrible person. She gangs up with her group of friends and goes around spreading rumors about the kid. You've never talked to the kid, but you end up hating him because you just assume all the negative things you keep hearing is true.

But one day you end up in a class with the punk rock kid and he's your partner. Then you're like, hey, he's not that bad. In fact, he's a pretty cool dude!

People who hates Trump are just people who need to break out of that bubble of alternate reality.
