Too many people of my generation grew up without that kind of influence. Between the divorce epidemic tearing apart our own families, and Hollywood and TV reinforcing the idea that marriage is doomed to failure, we all had a lot of psychological and emotional scarring as we grew into adulthood and started trying to have relationships of our own. The next generation is going to be much better off in that regard.
Idk what it was but I haven’t had “cable television” since I was a child. From the age of 12, now 32, I’ve never had cable television. I never watched television. I was outside playing, riding my bike, driving my car, going on dates, hanging at the bars/clubs. I think that really helped me maintain a principled outlook on life and not become a total degenerate piece of shit like everyone else around me.
