(Quite literally - the "impartial" agency tasked with the transition fell all over themselves handing over internal documents to the Russia-Russia-Russia investigation.)

They had the privileges they did because they were supposed to be impartial experts, that whatever their personal politics they were there to implement the orders of the elected administration. The moment they openly took the stance that the incoming President shouldn't be obeyed, the foundation for their privileges evaporated.
