I can not see Hunter over dosing on drugs unless it was done purposely as suicide. He has years of experience of using drugs and should know his dosage and limits.
I have known many people who are no longer with us. Not one died of an over dose. All died because of the damage to their bodies caused by years or decades of drug use. It's very difficult for someone who has been a heavy user for decades to OD. If he died from smoking something, it was not from crack but something mixed in.
Unreliable drug dealers usually end up dead. For cocaine, the upline is pretty serious about meeting standards. One of my roommates had a cousin that was a pretty big player. Seriously, one night he came over to our house to cut his stock down to street use levels, that is levels expected by the buyers. BTW, The amount of raw cocaine I saw was like in a movie. If he didn't do things right, he could be offered a boat ride into the San Francisco Bay. He had screwed up once before. He didn't want to do so again.

Came here to say this, and also (not that I expect anyone here to, but) don't fucking IV coke or crack. Holy shit, let me tell you. I was an IV heroin addict for 5 years about (clean for close to a decade now, though), so I'm incredibly experienced, but let me tell you, IVing coke was the scariest thing I've ever experienced in my life (far more terrifying than actually ODing on H and being pronounced dead before being revived). I can't even explain it, but it was awful. I smoked crack and did coke fairly often, but wasn't quite dependent on it or hooked the same way I was with heroin. But, I was a junky and I'd do anything. So, one day, my buddy got some amazing coke and gave me a sample when I picked up my usual H amount for the day. He told me how good it was, but I took no caution. He knew I injected, so I assumed he just gave me the normal/expected amount.
The second I did it, I knew I made a mistake and it was wayyyyy too much. I instantly felt like I was having a heart attack. The typical "zooms" or train/bellringer feeling from crack wasn't even a concern -- my heart was beating out my chest, and I began sweating so much that my clothes were soaked... this was all in a matter of about 10 seconds. I was in a burger king parking lot, and I threw my car door open because I was convinced I was going to die, and wanted somebody to see and call an ambulance. Then I took my shirt off... and I must have looked insane lol. It took me about 5 minutes to manage to call my friend, and when he answered, I could barely talk. I managed to mutter "I think I'm dying," and he freaked out, being like 'you didn't just shoot all of that, did you?!" Long story short, he had to rush down to me and check up on me, brought me back to his place (2 mins away), and help bring me down with more H (also SUPER unsafe, but I was already at a near death point).
In any case, sorry for the long rant, and sorry for spreading a moment of such degeneracy, but it was genuinely the most frightening moment of my life, and I'm convinced that a few more tiny grains in that bag would have been enough to blow a valve or something, so... I guess just sharing a word of caution or warning for anyone that might eventually find themselves in such a situation
