Once again my power, along with a million other Californians, was just cut by PG&E due to fire danger. Fuck this 3rd world shithole

Yep, I'm out too. Thankfully I've got a big ass diesel generator that will keep us going over the next few days. And you can bet your ass it ain't Carb compliant.

Commiefornia, where the trees matter more than the people.

DoofusRufus 16 points ago +16 / -0

The trees don't matter either. Our wildfires are 10x bigger now than they ever were a few decades ago. Who could have guessed that letting forests get overgrown to "protect" them would cause them to burn like the pit of hell?

Pederrr 9 points ago +9 / -0

I remember learning in biology or something about how you have to clear forests and do controlled burns to keep the risk of major fires down.

Dry dead stuff is flammable, get rid of it or it'll catch fire one way or another

Femprep 5 points ago +5 / -0

Even the native Americans used to burn the forests. They had weird religious reasons, but the point is they did it!

...and bait fish. Don't forget the delta smelt.

Fire danger is real, due to poor management.

You can't save the forest by ignoring it or it'll all burn

DesertYote 4 points ago +4 / -0

They need the fires to blame globalist warming.

Well no shit, Sherlock, and it's mostly Trump supporters in danger. Maybe the California bashing and the taking points will help.

So is the danger of poor public land management, asshat.

1
gDq7BG5efU3PvYb 1 point ago +2 / -1

The support for fellow Trump supporters who are in danger is so heartwarming. Love you guys.

1
thunderpussy 1 point ago +1 / -0

Deriding poor public policy isn't putting anyone in danger. In fact, quite the opposite.

-1
gDq7BG5efU3PvYb -1 points ago +1 / -2

After the danger has passed but not now. Right now we're just trying to not die. Right now it's too late to talk about forest management. After the winds die down and the power is back on and the immediate danger has passed then it will be time. Why is that so hard to understand?

1
thunderpussy 1 point ago +1 / -0

I get what you are saying, but in fairness to the OP, their comment seems to be an exasperation of the policies that have actually led to this being necessary CURRENTLY.

Yeah. Just follow this specific thread back to hurr durr Commiefornia so see what set me off.

God damn dude, I'm sorry you're stuck in CA. I'm in a lighter shade of blue state of WA, but still plenty cucked. Our power went out for 5 hours last night and we realized how ill prepared we were for that situation. Ordered a kerosene heater rated at 2,000 sq/ft for our 1,300 sq/ft house and a 4750 watt generator. Picked up 35 gallons of K1 Kerosene today (we're getting freezing temps at night). Tomorrow I go fill up ALL of our propane tanks. We got a bunch of 'em as I do lots of cooking in my outdoor kitchen. And we reserved a 1 ton pallet of wood pellets for our pellet stove at our local Ace Hardware. We've been storing non-perishable foods since 2013 so we're good there. We can use the generator to power our well pump, so water is taken care of.

I beg you all to make whatever preparations you can for what could potentially be a cold dark winter.

This state is turning into a 3rd world country very quickly. 20 MPH winds and the power gets cut for a whole day. Pathetic. And they want to ban gas cars? LMAO

Under communism electricity is a privilege, not a right

Yeah so funny laughing at the second largest block of Trump supporters in America, Patriot.

Femprep 4 points ago +4 / -0

Dude, you need to chill. The fire problem has been for years, nothing changes but every time they turn into absolute monster fires. And everyone in California starts wanting sympathy. People who don’t live there are tired of it. Hell I’m tired of it. Anything I vote for fails and what I vote against passes -always-. And while I’m not in California right now I still have trouble sympathising for any of the shit that happens there. Probably because this has been the standard for my entire voting life.

1 million and somehow we can't get the recall signatures.

adam_schiff 6 points ago +6 / -0

What county? I’m contra costa and mine cut 8:05

Gwoz8881 [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

Santa Clara. In the hills. Out till at least Tuesday night. I do have a generator, but keep it off overnight.

Yeah, there's supposed to be some strong winds. Don't want all those old, stretched out power lines flapping into each other.

11
Gwoz8881 [S] 11 points ago +11 / -0

Yeah. If only PG&E used taxpayer money for the repairs the money was given to them for instead of the state allowing them to move the funds into the general account to pad their cash flow and appease share holders.

adam_schiff 8 points ago +8 / -0

The model of a publicly traded company with a territorial monopoly on the government tit seems nutty to me. The monopoly makes them bad for the customers. The state compliance nonsense focuses on green shit rather than not starting fires. And then it’s a public company, so it’s trying to make a buck all the while the state is in jeopardy of the next fire.

1
Femprep 1 point ago +1 / -0

If only government regulators stopped taking kick backs from PG&E to overlook their lack of compliance.

3
Desertwhale 3 points ago +3 / -0

When are you leaving?

2
Gwoz8881 [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Early 2021. Been looking at places outside of California for the last couple months. Almost have it narrowed down

2
Desertwhale 2 points ago +2 / -0

Awesome. Best of luck with the move!

2
CitizenPlain 2 points ago +2 / -0

I think they cut the power to make all the illegal immigrants feel more at home.

2
paul_rick 2 points ago +2 / -0

So, have you bought your electric-only vehicle to sit in your driveway, unable to drive?

1
Gwoz8881 [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I do own a Tesla. I hate it. It’s a piece of shit car. Drives nice sometimes. Not worth the hassle. I’m looking to get rid of it

If you’re on the same grid as a hospital, you will never go out for the rolling outages or fire safety outages. There are maps on PGE website that show this. My old place was near a hospital so it would never go out. Now I’m in the foothills of the Bay Area

2
jetjetjet 2 points ago +2 / -0

But if we switch to electric cars, this problem will fix itself good sir

2
Botz15_1776 2 points ago +2 / -0

Well look on the bright side this is just more red pilling. The more the power goes off in California the greater the red wave will be the result

Those natural gas home generators would start looking good pretty fast if my power went out that often.

1
CA-Patriot 1 point ago +1 / -0

Dont tell anyone what the temperature is (its 45 degrees here).

2
Gwoz8881 [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

It even got down to 39° at my place last night. Hills around the Bay Area. High dry diablo winds though

1
grndmrshlgando 1 point ago +1 / -0

You're lucky they even bother to turn it back on

1
Pederrr 1 point ago +1 / -0

Move.
