My only hope at this point is a Trump win. But even then, I cannot be sure he will be effective in rooting out corruption because it's apparently so pervasive.
The thing that echoes in my mind is the phrase, for evil men to accomplish their purpose it is only necessary that good men do nothing. This is prevalent because I know local cops in multiple precincts. I know the bullshit departments do to cops that "rat" out other cops. This goes all the way up to the FBI and other alphabet agencies. The standing order to be in the BATF is you have to hate the 2nd Amendment and gun owners but that's common knowledge.
The FBI has always had the pretense of being the premiere law enforcement agency in the nation. Now, I don't believe that even a little. Are there good agents? Yes. Are there agents good enough to stand up to a corrupt system? No. I do not believe that at all.
I honestly never believed those words I just typed would hurt as much as they do and I've stated in the past that there is no justice in the nation any longer for actual wrongdoing. Now I actually believe it. They hurt because I think this points to it being over for the USA.
So even with a Trump win, I don't believe the nation can be saved. Trump would have to immediately fire everyone but field agents, thousands of employees to purge the agency, create a system of oversight rivaling the most hardcore authoritarian regimes in history, and then not give them any teeth. More importantly, he'll have to break up DC. Send agencies across the country. Split them up and get them out of that swamp town. That ain't happening.
Sorry for the rant and the (what's the term for it?) concern trolling? It's honestly how I feel. I'll still vote, i'll still do what I can to get conservatives elected. I don't think it will help in the end.
