In reality he was calm, collected, and took some time to check to make sure it was a good spot to end. In the spliced version it makes it seem like he just got up and stormed off.
Trump knew he'd be ambushed - which is why he had his own recording going - to further expose these corrupt asshope swamp creatures for what they truly are.

He really let her slide on that "I have to discredit you so when you say bad things about me..." quote. Even if that was his plan, he would never have said that out loud to a reporter. Probably could have pushed her harder on making up that quote.
nothing wrong with that quote though - if they constantly say bad things about him and refuse to report on the positive, and they are not credible - there is nothing wrong with pointing that out.
But she said he told her he was intentionally spreading an idea that they were untrustworthy, not because they are, but because he needs them to seem that way. I very very highly doubt he ever said anything like that.
One doesnt preclude the other. He could intentional spread the TRUTH that they are untrustworthy because they are AND because he needs people to see them that way.
I agree though that I doubt Trump actually said it in that phrasing - just saying that it doesnt even matter. They are untrustworthy, who cares why he wants people to understand that.
