I wasn't worried about the socialism part of Bernie's campaign because I didn't think there was much popular support in America for socialism. That turned out to be very wrong, there is quite a lot of support for socialism in America, which inevitably becomes communism when you give all of the economic power to the government.
You're right that the majority of the left are not socialists, but don't underestimate it. There are far more socialists than there are members of white supremacy groups, like 200x as many.
People who believe in things like "free education", "free medical" and "ending the wealth gap", or "no one needs more then 400k per year" - are unwitting communists whether they know it or not.
