What Morning Consult is claiming, "Most Voters Who Went Third Party in 2016 Are Backing Biden Over Trump This Year"

I don't buy it. Gary Johnson pulled in record votes for the Libertarians in an unsure election. Many voters that lean conservative or have libertarian leanings voted for Johnson in an unsure election. I don't see how they don't vote for Trump with his record and that Johnson isn't on the ballot. That's why New Mexico will go for Trump this time around.

Also, this line from the article..."Joe Biden leads the president by 32 points among likely voters who supported “someone else” in 2016". Talk about pure fucking nonsense. They pulled that number out of their ass.

Edit: I'd like to add the things that Libertarians should be happy about with Trump.

  • No new wars.
  • Mass Deregulation.
  • Pharma and Justice Reform.
  • First Step Act.
  • Several Middle East Peace Deals.
  • Booming Economy.
  • Repeal TPP and NAFTA.
  • Remove Obamacare Mandate.
  • Tax Cuts.

And I wrote in McMullin and definitely voting Trump enthusiastically this time. I probably would've voted for Trump last time if the RNC hadn't pushed McCain through in 2008. I'll be bitter about that forever.

The LP this year is for protest voters that want to be holier than thou. Given Jo Jorgenson's feckless weakness on SJW crap like BLM and now tech censorship, the LP is useless.

Plus the libertarians have been pussies forever. You wont hear them running on abolishing welfare or affirmative, which have destroyed the free market and the republic. They'll run on legalizing heroine and CP because 'laws are lame, man.'

Can confirm.

Voted Libertarian 2016. Trump has won me over. Trump 2020.

I was also a McMullin write-in voter, as a protest against who I thought Trump was compared to only six months in office and I took a close look at what he did / was doing.

Was thinking Trump was in it for himself, and he proved himself otherwise.

Gary Johnson had a shitty foreign policy position from what I recall. It was either a write in or just completely leaving that blank for me back then. Gotta keep in mind that I live in a deep blue shithole and I didn't know that the dims were going to use the popular vote difference as an excuse to try serious efforts to emasculate the Electoral College. It's a much different story these days thanks to those assholes. Trump needs popular vote desperately to squash those Constitution-hating assholes once and for all. (None of that is to imply that I'm not completely sold on Trump this time. Saw the light in early 2017.

Gary Johnson isn't even close to a textbook libertarian and now they trot out BLM-loving Jorgensen? What a clown ass party.

They are pied piper candidates, and I don't get how anyone can fall for it. They know what they are doing, and they should be tried for treason and executed.

I don't buy it. I am a first time poster here, been lurking for about a month. Anyway, I am a "Big L" libertarian (hardcore) and I voting for Donald Trump. My wife is also voting for the first time and she can't wait to vote for Trump. I think most libertarians understand who the establishment candidate is and I can't imagine them voting for Biden.

Kristoffer 34 points ago +41 / -7

Most Libertarians I know are idiots who aren't voting Trump cause all they care about is smoking weed while having an abortion and shooting a gun.

Fucking wack really, Rothbard is rolling in his grave.

Here in California it's a somewhat pathetic attempt to separate yourself from the Democrats without being a Nzi.

I did it for years. Now I have a big Trump flag in my driveway.

This is exactly right. You'll get beat up if you say you're for Trump, but not if you say you're a libertarian

Donald_Farage 37 points ago +38 / -1

Ah, the new so-called “libertarians.” I can speak for myself when I say that Ron Paul libertarians loathe these poser pieces of shit that have invaded the movement. They are literally not libertarians, assuming words still have meaning. Trump 2020.

17
mintyfresh 17 points ago +17 / -0

The movement is intact. The Party is trashed. Has been for awhile.

Sounds like you are talking about people who say libertarian but really mean some form of Anarcho-whateverism. No one in their right mind believes our country can thrive as a Night Watchman State anymore, most libertarians mean some form of Constitutionalist. Someone who claims they are a libertarian because they want weed to be legal, but also vote for the party that wants to strip away all of your civil liberties are not libertarian. They are retarded.

1
FormerGraveheart 1 point ago +1 / -0

Most Libertarians I know are idiots

Yes, exactly. That's exactly the problem, because libertarianism doesn't work when you have a party like the Communists who are trying to use the freedoms we have to destroy the country. Libertarianism has no defense against that: it's like a body without an immune system. It doesn't work as a policy and should be thrown in the trash.

Jorgenson's gun policy is literally wet dream level shit and Trump should adopt it verbatim, but you'd have to be pretty damn stupid to throw away your vote when the left is more evil than ever.

If were in a deep blue state, you might have said my vote doesn't count, may as well help the Libertarians. Some election rules require a party get a certain percentage of the vote to keep their status.

But this year, there is a greater realization that ever vote counts, even in deep blue areas, so Trump wins the Electoral College and the Job, but also the popular to shut up the "Not My President" talking point.

Joe wouldn't be Hiding' Biden if his presence could change the vote. Trump is on the road because it is where his energy comes from AND it helps down the ticket. We haven't seen our last Trump Rally because he'll be out there for the midterms in 2022.

2
Walt_Kowalski 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yep. That's why every conservative here in CA needs to vote for Trump. Get off your ass and vote!

20
AZDude 20 points ago +21 / -1

Registered Libertarian, I voted for Johnson in 2016. Already turned in my ballot for Trump.

15
kag-2020- 15 points ago +16 / -1

I voted for Johnson because I legitimately thought he'd be better than Mitt "The RINO" Romney and I thought Barack Hussein Obama was a traitor who hated America. Still do too. I voted Trump in 2016 though, and I am ecstatic to do it again.

5
Rekot24 5 points ago +5 / -0

Same here. I saw how big a POS Romney was back then and it's only been proven out. So glad I didn't vote for that guy in 2012.
