MTB has an equipment floor: A car with rack, a decent bike ($1000, yeah you can go way lower but at the cost of safety/reliability/fun), somewhere to store that bike (indoors), hours of free time, and most significantly motivation to get out there.
Make more solidly middle-class black people and we'll get more black mountain bikers (and road bikers).
