Permastickied until the election

We think nationally a lot, but let's talk local for a bit!

Rules for this thread are pretty simple. Top-level posts must be structured as such or they'll be deleted:

[STATE]

[COUNTY/CITY/etc (if applicable)]

[Position title. School board, police chief, dog catcher, tax hike, etc.]: -Who is the MAGA candidate(s), or Yes/No to the initiative. Please include an explanation (and link, if possible)

Example:

NORTH DAKOTA

FARGO COUNTY

Police Chief:

-Deputy Dangle. He puts rollerskating hookers away and doesn't afraid of anything

School tax increase

-Vote NO. They're failing our students, churning out rollerskating hookers. They'll use the money for rayciss training anyway.

If you're looking for advice for your state/county, ctrl-F and search for it. If nothing comes up, do some research and advise others!

Georgia

All Counties

Q1: Controlling How Government Spends the Money It Collects Via Fees

  • Yes. This requires the State government to use fees identified for specific purposes for those purposes only instead of putting them into a general slush fund.

Q2: Sovereign Immunity and How We Sue the Government

  • Yes. Currently the local/state government cannot be sued for unconstitutional behavior. Given we are taking the supreme court today too, we want this.

Q3: Referendum: 501(c)3 charity exemptions

  • Maybe. It exempts tax free charities from having to pay ad valorem taxes for properties held exclusively for building or repairing single family homes that the charity finances to them. Mainly habitat for humanity. If you support them, you want this.

I feel a little bit differently about Q1. I voted "No" because I want the government to be able to be flexible. What if a new urgent issue arises within the year, but the law says that they can't attribute money from fees to it? I feel like, even if there is abuse of government funds, it would be better for state government officials to decide how to use fee revenue. It's up to us, the constituents, to elect trustworthy people who use our money wisely.

I think Q3 is an obvious yes because, as a Christian, I don't want the government taxing any 501(c)3 organization in any way at all since many Dems, in particular, threaten to tax churches all of the time. This is my take. Feel free to disagree.

All the questions for me boil down to: Would I want this law in place if Dems were in charge?

Q1 is yes, because other states are having a huge problem with misallocation of funds. If I vote to spend $15 for tire disposal (I dont know the actual fee $), my fees should be going to improve that system. Not funding whatever pet project they think is more important. Pass a bill if you think it is.

I truly understand needing flexibility, but that assumes an entirely benevolent government and I don't think that's going to happen. Some states are currently spending their slush funds on illegals and BLM nonsense.

I see your reasoning, but I still feel differently.

We want Doug Collins over Loeffler too.

If you saw their debate, she only has canned politician answers. She made money off that congress stock sale this year too. And overall, she owns the Atlanta WNBA, which IMO makes her incredibly susceptible to cancel culture and she won't be going after those big MAGA bills that we need in the Senate.

Doug Collins was a huge force for transparency in the initial declassification of the Russian docs that proved our intelligence community lied about spying on Trump, which is why he was chosen for Trump's defense team in the impeachment. He also introduced the First Step Act to the House. Very Pro 2a and fantastic at interviews explaining what Congress is working on.

She's running such gross attack ads against my boy Collins. He's definite MAGA

The ones that piss me off the most is her "He defended criminals" ads.

He was a defense lawyer. His job was to protect people from unjust prosecution and even if they were guilty, they are still entitled to Due Process. She gives me such swamp creature vibes.
