Permastickied until the election

We think nationally a lot, but let's talk local for a bit!

Rules for this thread are pretty simple. Top-level posts must be structured as such or they'll be deleted:

[STATE]

[COUNTY/CITY/etc (if applicable)]

[Position title. School board, police chief, dog catcher, tax hike, etc.]: -Who is the MAGA candidate(s), or Yes/No to the initiative. Please include an explanation (and link, if possible)

Example:

NORTH DAKOTA

FARGO COUNTY

Police Chief:

-Deputy Dangle. He puts rollerskating hookers away and doesn't afraid of anything

School tax increase

-Vote NO. They're failing our students, churning out rollerskating hookers. They'll use the money for rayciss training anyway.

If you're looking for advice for your state/county, ctrl-F and search for it. If nothing comes up, do some research and advise others!

MARYLAND

Question 2

Do you approve the expansion of commercial gaming in the State of Maryland to authorize sports and event betting for the primary purpose of raising revenue for education?

This is how they sold the state lottery back in 1973. They're are still schools without adequate heat and air, but the admin side of the local Boards of Education sure has grown.

So I'm doubtful that any revenues raised will actually benefit students.

OTOH the surrounding states already have sports betting so I'd prefer any revenue to remain in Maryland.

I will vote yes and hope the money actually benefits students.

Don't forget, this has a "diversity in business" provision tied to it, and is very ambiguous about how the funds are diverted. I'm torn on it because I don't trust our legislature at all.

I had no idea about the diversity in business provision but tbh I don't care since there will be diversity in gamblers.

They had the same provision for CBD and medical cannabis, didn't they?

Well-reasoned. I think you just convinced me to vote for it.
