Permastickied until the election

We think nationally a lot, but let's talk local for a bit!

Rules for this thread are pretty simple. Top-level posts must be structured as such or they'll be deleted:

[STATE]

[COUNTY/CITY/etc (if applicable)]

[Position title. School board, police chief, dog catcher, tax hike, etc.]: -Who is the MAGA candidate(s), or Yes/No to the initiative. Please include an explanation (and link, if possible)

Example:

NORTH DAKOTA

FARGO COUNTY

Police Chief:

-Deputy Dangle. He puts rollerskating hookers away and doesn't afraid of anything

School tax increase

-Vote NO. They're failing our students, churning out rollerskating hookers. They'll use the money for rayciss training anyway.

If you're looking for advice for your state/county, ctrl-F and search for it. If nothing comes up, do some research and advise others!

Virginia Vote yes for Amendment 1, stops the gerrymandering.

I wouldn’t trust that at all, It’s backed primarily by Dems, the ACLU, Common Cause, Dem newspapers and Eric Holder. They SAY it will be a “non partisan commission”. I don’t believe it because the Dems politicize everything they touch.

Yep, no such thing as "non-partisan" in America.

It's very confusing how that measure is phrased - essentially, it's 'do you want to amend the state constitution to create a gerrymandering commission?' The reason for the 'yes' is that it should make it a bit more transparent as a process and more difficult for a single party to push through crazy changes, which is good thing in general.

Obviously some Dems who previously supported this are now against it since they are now in the majority and don't want anything to get in the way of their redistricting post-Census.

I was about to vote 'no' initially until I saw a sample ballot and talked to someone about what it actually meant. Given that reasonable people will read this as introducing gerrymandering, I suspect the 'no's will have it. :/

Hadn’t heard of this until I went to vote and saw it on the ballot. Voted no because I didn’t understand what it was saying. The wording was very confusing. Just got a robocall yesterday asking me to vote yes. Too late.
