Permastickied until the election
We think nationally a lot, but let's talk local for a bit!
Rules for this thread are pretty simple. Top-level posts must be structured as such or they'll be deleted:
[STATE]
[COUNTY/CITY/etc (if applicable)]
[Position title. School board, police chief, dog catcher, tax hike, etc.]: -Who is the MAGA candidate(s), or Yes/No to the initiative. Please include an explanation (and link, if possible)
Example:
NORTH DAKOTA
FARGO COUNTY
Police Chief:
-Deputy Dangle. He puts rollerskating hookers away and doesn't afraid of anything
School tax increase
-Vote NO. They're failing our students, churning out rollerskating hookers. They'll use the money for rayciss training anyway.
If you're looking for advice for your state/county, ctrl-F and search for it. If nothing comes up, do some research and advise others!
[VIRGINIA]
[Amendment to create bipartisan board to decide districting.]
[Vote:]
NoYESSo this is an attempt to "fix" gerrymandering, in reality what it will do is take away the GOP advantage in creating voting districts, thereby disenfranchising the Conservatives in those districts. The Democrats have enough people in NOVA to effectively control state-wide elections, but there are too many conservatives in the rest of the state for them to be able to gerrymander for themselves, so they want to tip the scales.I have been informed that the DNC strongly opposes this, in which case the obvious move is a vote in favor. What? I thought Republicans still control the State Legislature, while Democrats control the Governorship. The Legislature is what controls redistricting, so that's what matters. I admit though, I just quickly skimmed through a pamphlet I found at a gas station, so I might have it all turned around.
I appreciate you guys clarifying this! I'm glad I found this thread before I voted.
Ok, I just read through it and in the beginning they were talking about how there's no diversity language so I was kinda just like meh, but then I saw this:
So I'll change my comment.
