Permastickied until the election
We think nationally a lot, but let's talk local for a bit!
Rules for this thread are pretty simple. Top-level posts must be structured as such or they'll be deleted:
[STATE]
[COUNTY/CITY/etc (if applicable)]
[Position title. School board, police chief, dog catcher, tax hike, etc.]: -Who is the MAGA candidate(s), or Yes/No to the initiative. Please include an explanation (and link, if possible)
Example:
NORTH DAKOTA
FARGO COUNTY
Police Chief:
-Deputy Dangle. He puts rollerskating hookers away and doesn't afraid of anything
School tax increase
-Vote NO. They're failing our students, churning out rollerskating hookers. They'll use the money for rayciss training anyway.
If you're looking for advice for your state/county, ctrl-F and search for it. If nothing comes up, do some research and advise others!
No offense intended to you personally, but this is a security through obscurity bullshit argument. Just because it would require a standard access method doesn't mean it cant be secure. Also, if companies were securing things properly now you it would be more dificult to hack their current systems.
Many of the most secure systems in the world are open source and standardized.
None taken, friend. The way I see any program like this, is that when access is granted, it creates an opportunity. Whenever a system like this is instituted it can be abused by people that may have other ideas, that's all.
And no offense to you personally, but I worked on cars for a living for almost two decades. I know a lot of technical information regarding computer control systems and it wouldn't take much to alter them if given a gateway. Again, that video with the Jeeps, this is a serious problem of the future.
I work on computer security systems, not for automobiles, but systems that are far more accessible. If they want to make it secure they can, it's just that the automotive industry doesn't properly invest in security.
A standard interface doesnt really make the problem worse, it might actually encourage them to properly implement security features. They can already be hacked, like you pointed out with the Jeep video.
