Can a flu cause a complete loss of smell and blunting of taste? Im told I have COVID but the drop in Flu cases this year leaves me suspicious.

That's right folks. I was diagnosed with COVID19 also known as Kung Flu. Ive had it since last week. Ive had flus worse than this. But I find the complete lack of smell disturbing. Anyone have a cold or flu that knocked out their sniffer?

Was this recent? For some reason the "loss of smell" factor has shown up in the media over the last 3 weeks. Seems peculiar.

I started being sick about 2-2.5 weeks ago. My wife had told me about the loss of smell/taste a couple months ago so I don’t think that’s new... but I could be wrong, as I don’t watch mainstream media.

seemed to have only shown up like a month or two ago. Which is when flu season started to ramp up. I dunno. Good point.
