Weed legalization is pretty much the only thing I agree with democrats on. I personally would never smoke weed in my life, but I feel like some benefits would come out of weed legalization. Thoughts?

Kick it to the states. Remove federal bans.
Yea, but taking off the scheduled drugs list, business in states where its legal could use banks without the fear of confiscation. It's the right thing to do.
I'm good with that, leaving it as schedule 1 is preposterous.
THIS! Let the states decide, but please remove federal bans so the money isn't illegal.
I think it should be legalized nationally so all the flapping potheads move out of my state. I, personally, am for legalizing all non-synthetic drugs. As long as a person can hold a job and doesn't drive while high....don't care.
This. It would crush the cartels, redirect the $ we spend on incarceration on rehabilitation.
I live in Cali so already legal. Cannabis has many medical benefits and anyone who tells you it is a "gateway" drug is fucking stupid.
I once injected a marijuana and thought I was a teapot for a week
Cannabis legalization needs to happen. I’m a disabled veteran I was on a cocktail of pills and didn’t know how much longer I could take it. I found cannabis and it saved my life. I’m no longer on any of that bullshit and feel like myself again. I know plenty of other vets in the same boat.
I do think weed is harmful, but I support your right of choice. It's not my business nor right to determine what you can and can't do.
Water is harmful if abused.
Water doesn't get you high.
And? Who cares if someone gets high? Everything in moderation.
I said I don't care if you do it.
Get fucked.
Getting high doesn't mean harmful.
Don't care/not interested/you do you.
Lol I used synthetic urine for my pre employment drug test.
What in the world makes you think you have the right to know what's in someone's body? What people do at home is their own business. Are you not worried about alcoholics? They don't show up on these tests.
The random test says nothing about whether or not they were smoking on the job or on the weekend. Unless there is a way to determine conclusively in the moment, it’s bullshit and tells you nothing at all.
Decriminalize possession? Yes.
"Legalize" i.e. tax/regulate. Meh.
Should be entirely unregulated, along with booze and ammo.
Criminal charges for smoking a plant that makes you feel euphoric and chill. Yep. Good one.
I don't even smoke. Been there done that. Grew up and now have way too many uses for my brain to shoot holes through it with dope. Life is too short to be full of ideas but being completely incapable of manifesting anything of use from them.. maybe creative artistic types harvest more of its potential than I did.
The law NEVER stopped a single person who wanted to smoke, from doing so. All it did was raise its price, support crime syndicates and create another income stream for the government through fines. O and put people in jail, becoming a burden on taxpayers in general. Totally retarded concept.
Gateway? Horse shit. Enough with the Nanny State bollocks.
Medicinal THC use is a proven winner. I think that the extraction of the active compound for this reason is a far better plan than giving yourself emphysema from inhaling the smoke.
But hey, just my opinion. To each their own.
How old are you, OP?
I'm not for it. It seems every place it's legal is a shithole.
Trump said its a states rights issue
Personally, I dont think the gov can tell me I cant smoke weed. That weed isnt okay, but alcohol is. Thats dumb. Voting to legalize it here in a few days in AZ
I personally do not know ONE person who voted against it. NOT ONE. And I've got a pretty upscale family/friend base.
If CA is any way representative of what you get with lenient drug laws, then no thanks.
Cali was like this before Marijuana was legal. It has nothing to do with it.
You agree with Democrats on it? Didn't see any bills from them to legalize it. Didn't see Barry do anything about it. Don't see the Democrat house propose anything. Democrats are in bed with the pharma companies, the banks who launder cartel money, and the CIA which helps the cartels sell drugs. They're not going to do shit about if if the bottom line of their criminal enterprises are at risk.
But yes, legalize it. I hope Trump gets that done in his second term.
https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2019/11/14/americans-support-marijuana-legalization/
We need to dismantle the welfare/entitlement state first. THEN a lot of "recreational" drugs could be legalized without just forcing non-users to pay even more to treat and support users.
There is solid evidence that regular marijuana use can cause schizophrenia to develop in people who have some kind of predisposition, but who would not otherwise develop it. This is a huge problem, both because of the lives it destroys directly (schizophrenics and their immediate families), but also because our current legal system does not allow schizophrenics to be institutionalized until after they kill someone. They're allowed to roam loose in society, on a promise to take their medication (which they rarely continue for the long haul, and which rarely keeps working for the long haul anyway) and show up for their psychiatrist appointments (they don't).
I'm very concerned that full legalization of marijuana will also lead to a huge increase in children and early adolescents beginning to use it, with potentially disastrous results for development of schizophrenia and possibly other side effects of the drug on still-developing brains. Right now, most marijuana-using parents don't keep the stuff lying around the home in plain sight, like packs of cigarettes and alcoholic beverages. I'm afraid that would change if marijuana gets the same legal status as tobacco and alcohol.
Up to the states. Each does with it what they see fit.
Leave it to states but end it federally. Peoples quality of lives for numerous ailments are damn near cured if not made somewhat tolerable. Also I work hard as fuck and destroy my body, couldn't do it without copious amounts of marijuana. Stoners are the least of LEOs worries compared to alcohol I believe. States also make taxes and folks have the option to cultivate their own it's kinda nice! It's not crack.
It should be legalized imo. The medical benefits of marijuana are real and we live in America for God sakes! 💚💚
I've seen people ruin lives over weed, but I guess so does alcohol. Also, places where it becomes legalized tend to become crappy areas. Personally, I'd legalize it for adults but with harsh penalties for damage caused or criminal conduct arising from it.
I think that's a chicken/egg issue.
The pot didn't make places crappy. So far, only crappy places have legalized it.
I don't smoke, but I'd consider it if I had to live in LA or Portland.
I hate the smell of weed, but I vote state rights. I just hope there are states strong enough to oppose it, so I can live there without smelling skunk.
I said it! Downvote me into oblivion
I smoked for a long time - after a 3year hiatus I believe there is reason they call it dope.
I would say I am on the extreme end of the spectrum with my stance. I just don't think stuff that grows natively from the ground should be illegal. When you start extracting the psychoactive ingredients and concentrating them, then I think a case can be made. But I don't care what people do in their free time. If you want to eat poppy and mushrooms and smoke some pot, go for it.
Smoke it at home not while driving. Treat it the same as alcohol.
Dgaf, you do you boo.
Don't smoke it... don't think you should smoke it... don't like it...
Fucking make it legal.
I think it should be legal. I don't think people should smoke it. People who use medicinally for pain or never issues should be able to do what they want. Recreational use should be sparse like a couple times a month at most.
People who smoke everyday are affected, they just don't know it. It dulls the mind. It makes you dependent on it. It isn't healthy.
I used to sell it, grow it, smoke it, eat it, cook with, and worshipped it.
Challenge: If you get high at least 3 times a week or more and you don't need it for pain or nerve issues, try this. Quit for 6 months and keep a journal.
It will become evident that it is mostly a negative force in your life.
Same with alcohol. If you drink every night, quit for 6 months and keep a journal.
What do you have to lose?
Treat it like alcohol. Legalized but can’t be on it at work or while driving.
Leave it to states and employers to decide.
First legalized in CA and CO, and you see how they're doing . . .
To each their own.
Smoke weed every day.
Never done a drug in my life but I'm all for it. Tbh kinda surprised Trump hasn't made a move in that direction yet, seems like his style.
I'm 100% for it. I'm also for decriminalizing and regulating all drugs.
The war on drugs is an absolute failure. It makes me furious that people in hospice are dying without pain management. There's no reason that people have to spend their final days in agony. My MIL had a hysterectomy and was sent home with TYLENOL. Over the counter TYLENOL. She was silent for days, then started crying and didn't stop for two weeks.
Now she's too terrified to go to the doctor for anything.
Our government is committing crimes against humanity and I do NOT forgive them.
End the WOD and end the cartels. Put that money into humane rehabilitation for the addicts. Instead of paying the billions into a losing cause, why don't we try treating people like PEOPLE? Be kind to them. Pay to give them HELP.
And somebody needs to explain to me why an alcoholic can continue to keep their job and go to college while they get help, but a drug addict can't. Why do we destroy the lives of people to take a drug recreationally in the privacy of their own homes, but it's no never mind if someone gets pass-out drunk?
If it weren't for double standards, our culture would have no standards at all.
If you're taking a poll, I'm a 50 year old housewife.
We're saving western civilization and all you care about is your fucking buzz.
Piss off, loser.
Saw it wreck small towns in rural Washington state. Not for it.
