A big issue in the 2016 was a lot of people not wanting Hillary to be able to pick the replacement for Scalia, which drove Republican turnout to be higher.
I think they had the idea that it would work the same way but in democrats favor instead... So they're plan failed miserably.
Make people so disillusioned with the system by portraying everything as some world ending failure of Democracy and the people will tear the system apart for them.
With a failing Covid narrative it would've become more obvious she was dead if there was a need for the Supreme Court to decide the outcome of the election, or even to shoot down these BS policies extending voting deadlines and such.
I think they wanted to wait as long as possible, but if it got out that they were hiding her death, it would come back to bite them. Just like the Hunter Biden issue is biting them, even if they ignore it.
I doubt it was that, only because she's still been able to do her job all year despite being dead. Another case in fromt of the Supreme Court wouldn't suddenly have become an issue in hiding her death.
